What's more crazy about namjoon creating a whole new story is that, his new story is even intentionally based on the meanings of the characters' names (bean girl and red bean girl), and 2 different proverbs related to bean and read bean! ("If you sow bean you reap bean, if you sow red bean you reap read bean" "No one believes if you say you can make maejoo out of red bean") . He just instantly put and blended all those cultural things related to the girls' names into the new tale..... which makes perfect sense! He is sooooo much more than a genius!

2021-08-09 12:45:51 +0000 UTCi just started watching new journey to the west, the show that they've been mentioning. so much fun! rewatching these run episodes with you guy again and just catched marisol's comment on "whats their budget" tbh i have no idea, but definitely the budget is sooo so big. they're traveling outside of korea, and the prizes are so expensive too.

2021-05-27 18:01:58 +0000 UTCyes familia u guessed right! so bts always mixes in some konglish when they speak so in the game they spoke some literal korean words and it sounded a bit awkward and strange which was why the members commented on it or laughed cuz it was kinda cringe😂 but i know u guys are learning korean and once u get to a better level u will definitely understand more and also hear the awkwardness urself from those "literal" words it's just a matter of getting used to it i think? idk for me now that im a lot better i can understand some korean expressions better and relate more so fighting u got this!!💜

2021-05-27 08:11:04 +0000 UTCI don’t know how to explain this to people from the west, but rest of the world borrows many English/ Western languages words, mostly due to 1) Colonisation 2) Military bases etc. So even if a non-English speaker isn’t necessarily studying English it’s VERY natural to use English words. Also, I don’t think anyone speaks pure languages anymore as with globalisation languages have amalgamated. Even English has burrowed words from other languages:) Anyway, the point is, it’s super hard to play a game in which you cannot say English words when some words are a standard too (Serve in Tennis as an example)

2021-05-27 08:02:00 +0000 UTCIt's the same here in the Philippines.. in our everyday life, people commonly use "Taglish" which is a combination of Tagalog and English. There are words that we are just used to knowing and using in english and sometimes it doesn't really have a direct Tagalog word, and even if it does, the majority of the population is not familiar with it. But then again if you think about it, Tagalog itself has a lot of Spanish words incorporated in it, so yeah.. Language can be real tricky hahaha..

Im sure Marisol understands, but when we use words like "cool" "super" "ok" etc. And about the names its even harder since usually in Korean for example, the younger members should always add "hyung" to the olders' name, basically they use honorifics.

With Namjoon's story, clearly, his quick little made up story made such an impact, someone actually took the time to draw all that, and I love the thoughtfulness of that. And the gifts were so personalized for each member, and thoughtful of what transpired during these games, it was just heartwarming.

2021-05-27 01:44:21 +0000 UTCyeah it's definitely a natural reflex for them to say ok, not bad, and nice. but then on top of that a lot of korean words are loan words from other languages (and i mean a lot) so it's not unusual to not know where a word has come from, it's just a word they will always use because there is no pure korean alternative. this will generally be helpful to you if you remember about this bc it comes up a lot in run episodes aaah so many of the jokes in this episode are in their tone of voice which unfortunately you miss (i know you can't just be silent the whole time, don't worry) but you should listen again if you ever rewatch it

Yes - Koreans use many English words (and we don’t have Korean words for those.) - like WiFi, computer, TV, radio, keyboard, internet, coffee, cake.. Do other countries have your own words for these????? Just wondered....😅 And yes... in this episode, I could tell it must have been soooo hard for them not to say ‘OUT’ or‘serve’....😂😅
