I learn a lot from him as an artist and as a human. People around me perceived me as someone who's kind and joyful but they don't know I can think about the meanest thing in my mind when I'm hurt. I love his music because it gives me relieve, that I'm normal, that I'm human.

I think the translator's thoughts and reservations are still very valid, but you bring up a good point that the context provided is important to understand where he was coming from. Also, while not an excuse, we all know how much RM has grown and how much he respects women.

So basically underground rappers criticized namjoon for not rapping "properly" in BTS. Namjoon made Joke as a literal joke to those haters because the song itself is what they would concern "good" rap ie. fast rapping and garbage random lyrics that rhyme. So Joke is a joke to him and a slap in the face to those haters because he is mocking what they concern the best type of rap (whereas namjoon does a variety of different rapping styles). Literally I don't know why no one brought this up. This piece of information is veryyy important which is why the lyrics are how they are in the song.

He's so honest and transparent in his lyrics and styles, it's amazing to see how much his music adapts alongside his life. Even from RM to mono, you can feel a transformation happening. It makes me so pumped to see what he brings next!

All the diss tracks in this mixtape are directed towards the fake hiphop warriors who looked down upon him as you already know. In korea, usually people think โhiphopโ is this manly swaggy culture that disses, curses and criticizes everything. The misogynistic lyrics in this songs seem like overboard yet work as the most downgrading insult to throw at a misogynistic person. These haters of namjoon are very misogynistic and โmachoโ type, so for them, if joon says โ you are a pigโ, they will just shrug it off. But if joon says โyou act like a girlโ it ticks all their nerves. And the usage โv*****โ in the lyrics of โjokeโ is not about a woman instead he is saying the haters have a โv******โ yet again a misogynistic insult for a misogynistic prick.

I'm also glad you watched the members visting him, and yes so adorable each time they did their own solos, they never forgot to mention the others & how much they miss/love them. RM, Yoongi & Hobi's rapping skills/styles are so different but that's why they are the top group right? it's the varieties they show as each & every time.

My man had to deal with a lot at first: people who used to rap with him talking bs at his back, having to deal with a mental war to categorize yourself, working hard to prove you're good and a lot more. I feel this mixtape was to let all out and be free from all those negative thoughts. When you see namjoon nowaydays he looks a very calm person who is growing his bonsai tree, reading books, enjoying art and nature. He grew up so well!

I've seen Joke before but I'm still a bit shook from reading the lyrics with you ๐ต๐ I do remember a comment I've read somewhere (youtube?) saying Joke is more of a word & rhythm play rap cause its for the haters saying he's a joke when he became an idol. And I just realized watching the MV with you that Namjoon played all the roles there, the officer, doctor who let the patient (also him) out so I interpreted it as him letting out the crazy monster inside him to prove all those haters wrong. Glad he got all these feelings out making his mixtape. And i felt that Life and Adrift are teasers for his next sound/vibe, Mono. Love watching this with you! Get well soon Marisol ๐๐๐

Rapline :) AIR FORCE ONE - RM performed tracks from his first mixtape PLUS Cypher Pt.2 and 3 with rapline. ALL FORCE ONE was a hip hop music festival where Namjoon was one of the headlining artists. He had the opportunity to bring out anyone he wanted as a guest performer that night, a few people theorizing if it would be one of his MFBTY friends like Tiger JK. Agust-D and D-2 were more like an evolution--a similar feel but more developed. It makes me wonder what Hope World 2 will be like. j-hope is so versatile it might just be a separate entity entirely. I just love our rap line so much. They are all so individually exceptional at their crafts but they complement each other so well. Ugh. Incredible.

2021-03-22 21:24:36 +0000 UTCIt's tough because I always want to say RM is my favorite mixtape but I listen to Hope World every single day and I know D-2 will continue to grow on me more and more everyday and I already think it's a masterpiece. haha. But RM is full of songs that are just my style aesthetically. And God Rap is one of my favorite songs lyrically. I really love the revelation and self-empowerment of taking ownership over your life and embracing your own power and responsibility over your choices. I spent a lot of time meditating on that particular concept. Also, as an atheist (and someone who has been subject to a lot of disdain because of that fact) I can't stress enough how important it is to hear someone I admire so much be open and candid about having no religion. And it's just a song so there's creative liberties that may not be 100% reflective of his beliefs but that doesn't change the fact that hearing the message of this song felt really validating. Anyway, he obviously had a bit of a chip on his shoulder when writing this album and felt like he had something to prove (which he has moved on from and we see and hear in his more recent songs like Reflection and the entirety of Mono) but I really appreciate the emotion of these pieces. Anger, fatigue, desperation. It all feels very visceral. Agust-D had that same sort of eagerness in it. It's just very human. And I also think it shows off how much of a prodigy he is when it comes to rap. j-hope is my favorite rapper. But Namjoon might be the best technical rapper I've ever heard. He has such command of his flow and he flexes that control and agility all over this album. It's SO impressive. And this was 2015! He was like 21! Crazy. It really proves why he was so good that Bang PD saw him and was like "the world of music needs a band built around Kim Namjoon." Thank you for reacting to this!

The idea or the reality of death hit me just 2-3 years ago, and i m 27 years old. To be able to cry and laugh listening to an album says a lot about the artist.. and its in korean. imagine knowing the language (someday*). I loved Mono, but this has a special place for me, being his first mixtape. Also, you guys were so cute and funny..i can t...i cried laughing. ๐ DO YOU FAMILIA

Like since the debut he had a "identity crisis" because always was said to him that he was not hip hop anymore, that he was a idol now and it's different. But then in 2015 he finally came to himself and was like "I'm me, I'm not just hip hop, r&b or anything, I'm not just a idol, I'm me and you can't put a label on it"!! And this mixtape is this, he is angry, he wants to show himself, show his music!! You can see it, all the songs are different for one another, we have hip hop, heavy raps, even rock with "Throw away" so yeah, i really like this mixtape and i love to see how Namjoon changed through the years till Mono and probably his next mixtape will be different too!! That's who he is, he's not just this and that, he's everything! Sorry to the long comment, i was probably repetitive too haha, it's because I really love this mixtape and Joon's evolution! ๐ (Also english is not my first language so I'm sorry if it's confusing ๐ )
