"Final Exam" Game Devlog

Hi!

Continuing my devlog.

If the last week was the week of experimentation, then I can call this week the week of routine!

As I said before, I seem to be able to solve the game's lag problem. Now, even on my old laptop, the game plays fine.

I didn't make the game level big again, as I wanted to do it originally. However, the game locations won't be too small either. Let me remind that, in search of solutions to remove the lags, I broke the level into small locations. Now that the lag problem has been fixed, the level is still a set of small locations. However, these locations are larger than they were a week ago. I think this is quite acceptable.

Having remade the already finished locations, I continued to build new ones, time after time doing the monotonous routine of placing the necessary objects on the game stage. On the one side, I personally get very tired of routine work. Routine work seems doubly hard when I start it after my main jobs. It's nervous, but I pull myself together and force myself, at least a little, but to work on the game in the evening.

On the other side, it's in this kind of routine work that progress is well felt. When, last week, I was experimenting with running the same location over and over again after a change in code, it felt like my work was standing still. This week's work feels different. I'm seeing progress in the form of newly created locations, and that's very satisfying.

Although the first level isn't finished yet, more than half of it is ready. I won't promise anything, but I'm very hopeful that over the next week I'll be able to complete all of the first level locations. After that, I will need to create images for the cutscenes of losing and successfully completing the level (at this stage of development, all images will be AI-generated; the final version of the game will have only the original images). Finally, after that, I will be ready to publish the updated demo.

To be honest, I was hoping to have the demo published by now. However, I always run into some unforeseen circumstances. Creating a game alone is a very difficult job! And I try not to promise anything in vain.

In the meantime, the working build of what I've made so far is available for paid subscribers.

P. S. The swimming costume is deliberately drawn on the girl from the level screenshot, so that the image complies with Patreon rules. In the game build, the girls are completely naked.
