Random Post #79 - Still on the Farm Update. Pt. 2
Added 2025-08-15 17:54:43 +0000 UTCTime for another little update!
For the last few days, I worked on a few main things: Getting a working sprinkler, fixing the Stamina System, and updating how mining and crafting works! I feel like I’m redoing the entire “game” part of the game.
Economy:
You make way, waaaay less gold from everything that isn’t farming. To not make it feel overwhelmingly bad, everything is now considerably cheaper (Like, somewhere around 60% cheaper. Equipment and weapons are especially cheaper.)
Sprinkler:
You guys would be surprised at how much work a simple sprinkler was to add. Initially, I thought it wouldn’t be possible, but in the end, though blood and tears and part of my sanity, it’s working almost perfectly. Getting it to work OVER the current crops coding was harder than expected. The only thing I can’t seem to be able to do is make the sprinkler keep plots of land without crops wet, but if there’s a crop or seed, it sure is working just fine!
The sprinkler works as you’d expect. You get it, use it through the Tools key/button, and every morning it’ll water the area around it. Interact with it, and you are prompted to take it out, you take it out, and it’s back in your inventory. Sounds simple, it was hell to implement.
Currently, there is only a basic sprinkler that waters 12 crops around it.
Stamina System Update:
-Increased base stamina, decreased Stamina usage for all tools.
-Sleeping no longer maxes out Stamina, and is now based off on the player’s level.
-Leveling up no longer increases max stamina.
-Max Stamina is now increased through consumables obtained at:
-Main Girl’s first quests (Small upgrade)
-Side Girl’s quests that doesn’t end with “love” (Small upgrade. This is Sophie/Eris, -Nihil, Boo/Basement Quest)
-Main Girl’s final quests + Kiria (Big Upgrade)
-Side Girls quests that end with “love” (Big Upgrade. This is Hildegard, Nameless and -Peach)
-Defeating Major Bosses of the caves/forest/seal areas. (Small upgrade)
Mining:
-Added 3 tiers of pickaxes! Old Pickaxe, Copper Pickaxe, and Gold Pickaxe!
-Added 3 tiers of rocks to the caves! Copper, Iron, and gold! Each can only be broken using an upgraded pickaxe from the prior tier.
-Added minable rocks in the forest area. (Way less than in the caves, but hey!)
-Removed all paths in the caves that expected the player to break rocks.
-Increased the loot table for rocks! (It now drops jewels and… rocks)
-Rocks are now randomized at the beginning of the day, so rocks aren’t always in the same spot every day. There might be more or fewer rocks on every new day. (You’d be surprised at how annoying this was to make)
Crafting System: <<<--- I’m currently finishing this up!
-The long-awaited(?) crafting update! Seriously, ever since it was added it never got any love, and I always thought even then it was undercooked. SO! Here’s what’s different:
-All craftable equipment has new recipes.
-All crafting items now have more “generic names” so that they can be spread out to more enemies.
-Added 20~30 new weapons and armor that are obtained exclusively through crafting. Most have gimmicks and not that universal, but I'd wager they're pretty fun! The poison bow is pretty cool to use.
-Added consumable crafting! That is: Potions!!!
-Crafting recipes are won in different ways. Old recipe items were all deleted.
Initial Crafting Book Received by Sarah
Initial Consumables Book Received by... undecided. Probably Obscuria in her first meeting.
Initial Cooking Book Received by Lamir (Lamir teaches a random Cooking recipe every week!! (As I said, an amazing idea!))
Advanced Crafting Book Received by… undecided.
Advanced Consumable Book Received at the end of Maribel’s Story. (Not the best to lock it behind an optional questline, but… it does make a lot of sense Maribel giving a healing item recipe book)
Important: Still haven’t started updating the cooking recipes. I’ll probably end up needing to rework/add a lot of new stuff, considering I just added 20 crops. Sigh… Will also probably need to tweak the gifting system too… Sigh...
And because of how item IDs work on RPGMaker, older saves WILL end up with some weird new items/lose some items. All old crops/seeds will disappear from your inventory or turn into other stuff. Nothing that might break the game, but… it’ll be weird.
Comments
Well, I would be lying if I said that a scene like that has ever crossed my mind. I'll keep it in mind next time I'm thinking a new scene.

2025-08-18 18:21:51 +0000 UTCSince you're revisiting older areas of the game that didn't get much love, did you give any thoughts into making some MC behind bars content? I remember when playing for the first time, I wanted the MC to end up in the mansion jail after he pissed off Lene. And then having her visit him during the night for some attitude change. Nothing game breaking, more like a filler scene. MC-Lene interaction at the beginning was so beautifully mean that I feel like it just belongs there. Plus it makes more use of fairly under-used space in the game. And my god, Lene was just made to be a mean, capricious guard. In any case, excited to try out the latest stuff.
