I had two theories for this new season : we would continue to follow the same case, with Stringer ruling that business and dealing with the consequences of season 1 ; or that we would begin an whole new one, and I felt that it would begin with McNulty as a coast guard, discovering something related to drug export. I was wrong : we're gonna have Stringer and all of what I thought, but also a case which is gonna happen at the docks. And it's not about drugs.
It was such a shock for me at the end to discover that. Because it opens a whole new thing for the show. New gangs, for sure, and we already met some guys coming from them, different groups, different nationalities also. But also a new business, with these women who were surely there to be sold after that. It's gonna be interesting but also really rough to follow. But I appreciate that we're gonna have new characters. Ziggy is gonna surely be an interesting but complicated one.

I understand what you mean, but for me it had a different impact : I bingewatched all season 1 and then continued directly with season 2, and I had the impression to go from a closed space, the pit, between buildings, between walls, to a full open space, with the docks, with view on the sea, opened to the world, so to a lot of things, gangs and businesses.

2023-07-22 07:33:33 +0000 UTCOne of the things I love in season 2 visually is you get a lot more shots through long lenses from far away, it makes the characters feel small and isolated under the massive machinery of the port industry.

2023-07-22 00:57:47 +0000 UTCEvery season brings in a new aspect to this show. S2 is about the decaying industry, blue collars struggling to make ends meet and the lengths they go to try and survive. It's a rather sharp turn from the S1 vibes but I guarantee it's still just as good!
