To build an episode like that, with back and forth from present to past, to discover that the apparent calm of this party was in fact hiding a lot of things, it was a good idea. It's something working well in shows and movies, like La Casa de Papel or Ocean's Eleven for example, for actions. But here, maybe the fact that it was to discover new conversations each time and the fact they showed us a lot of the same scenes, and making them last each time for a minute, slowed down the rhythm.

For me, the episode should have finished really with these two discovering that they arrested the wrong guy and that the true big mage played them. Maybe ending with a scene revealing him doing something really bad, his true self. The fact it's finishing like that and was written with that construction, it's making me think that no one warned the writers that the season would be divided like that. As a regular episode, it would be an excellent one. As a final episode of the first part of a season, it feels slow to bring the solution and really rushed when we have it.
