Hello !

When, just after an episode, I tell you "I need time, I'm coming back to you", you know that it was a difficult and painful one. And that I surely cried. But here, to have all of these flashbacks with Todoroki confirming what we could have guessed, about Endeavor being violent with his mother, training him against his will and by hurting him… It was so sad. I was just glad to see his siblings being okay (and not tortured or even killed by their father) and to learn that his mother is alive. Surely blocked in an asylum, but still.

Deku pushing him to use his full quirk, even the left side, was painful. I understand totally why and I love why, because he wants his opponent to use his full potential, to be totally himself, to not let his dad have this control on him. But to see Todoroki being conflicted by it and remembering what his mother told you, it was… painful. Beautiful, with a BEAUTIFUL music, but painful.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

MY HERO ACADEMIA 2X10 FULL REACTION

Hello ! You're right, I might have not explained my point of view right here : the soundtrack was for me making a lot of the job because it's such a deep/built/epic one that you can just go with it, let your emotions go with it. Yes, this drawings are "simple" and I noticed it, discussed about it since the beginning, but it doesn't bother me at all, it's another style of manga/anime, and it's great. Thanks for the info about who made that animated sequence ! It was yes, a preeeeeetty good one 😊

I loved your reaction and I was right there with you the first time through, with perhaps less tears and more anger at Endeavor. Quick Caveat for the next part: I'm a huge animation nerd ^_^ My one nit to pick with your commentary would be when you talked about the sound track making up for the animation. I don't think you meant to say the animation was bad, but I did want to point out two things. One, the series is a mixture of styles from manga and classic American comic books, so the simplicity and lack of shading is intentional in comparison to Demon Slayer. Second, the sequence in this episode where Todoroki unleashes his full potential for the first time is animated by Yutaka Nakamura who is perhaps one of the most recognized and talented animators in all of Japan. I rewatched that sequence several times when the episode first aired. He borrows from a lot of sources to animate this, re-imagining Todoroki's flames as though he were standing behind a jet engine. The explosion where Todoroki and Midoriya's attacks impact each-other at the cement wall features the technique Yutaka is most well known for, "Yutapon cubes", where an object in the environment shatters into many smaller individually hand animated three dimensional cubes. It is a breathtaking bit of animation.

Yes, I think because you know, even if you'll show me his background now, I'm clearly not sure I will change my mind about him. You know how I am, reasons are not excuses to act a bad way. And here he forced a marriage with a woman, was violent with her, forced her to "create" kids, was violent with them, pushed her to go crazy and put her in an hospital... And I'm sure a lot of things we don't know yet.

So when it comes to Endeavor as of now, would you say that you hate him?

Ore Ogunleye

You're right : when Todoroki told us his story, we could just agree with him and support him in his decision of not using his left side, but when Deku said that it was bad because he was not fully himself and using all of his potential as the amazing hero he could become, it sounds suddenly also so true. That's why I was divided during the moment, like "yeah, you're totally right, but it's so rough for him, and if he does it, his asshole of father is gonna be proud of it/himself, we don't want that !". Deku is amazing, Deku is the nicest 😊

I really liked how it was so easy for us viewers to support Todoroki's choice to not use his fire. Endeavor is an asshole. So we totally support Todoroki's choice to piss him off. So when Deku scolded him that he's not giving his all and how his quirk was his own, it felt so impactful because it felt like he was talking to us as well. I also really enjoyed how Deku's history with his quirk allowed him that point of view. Because he knows that All for One came from All Might, but because he inherited it, and because All Might is not an asshole, he felt ownership over his own quirk as he continued exploring how he can make full use of it. I really love how wholesome Deku is. If he was just focused on winning, he shouldn't have helped Todoroki and just waited for Todoroki to freeze up. But because he is who he is, he saw that Todoroki was suffering and wanted to help him even if it cost Deku the fight. And it's really this trait of self-sacrifice, the willingness to give it your all even if it means losing something important, is what really defines his character. I cannot wait for you to get deeper into this season. :)
