Hello !
Guys, yes, this episode was predictable. Because we know with this show now that if we meet new people, for sure they're gonna die in the same episode. And because you didn't have to be a genius to guess that Ellie's story about the mall was a lie, that another person was involved, surely someone she loved, and that person died in the process. So yes, this story, the relationship, what happened to the characters, from beginning to the end, even with Joel and Ellie who didn't give up on him, everything was predictable. And that's fu**ing okay, because it was fu**ing awesomely done.
When the story is well written, when people are playing things in such an emotional way and make us feel a lot of different things, when on screen it's so beautiful, it's okay to be predictable. And in particular with here a memory episode, because it means that your characters are well built, that the story is logical and that the universe, the DNA of the show, is respected. A lot of shows, because they don't want to be predictable, are totally illogical, and others are too predictable with every little detail and line. It's the difference between a good and a bad show : good ones can be predictable because they are doing it so well that they manage to still surprise us and get us in tears.
I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.
