Hello !

I think it has been a long time that you didn't see me getting mad at a character that much. And it's only because he's so well played and all of the story around is so well written to show something I can just hate. The movie is showing and denouncing a broken system in which bad cops are getting covered by higher guys, and because of that they can threaten, steal and kill without being questioned.

For me, the evolution of both characters during the movie and its conclusion is proving this system can't work : Alonzo went into it so deep that he ended up being killed when Jake was saved because he did the right thing. Jake had the respect of these gang members because of that, because he saved that girl, because he didn't want to kill Alonzo etc. But I'm afraid that the viewers who are thinking like Alonzo, can be encouraged in fact by this movie.
