No time jump at the beginning of this episode, we're really discovering the aftermath of the King's death, for Alicent's side. I think the next episode would be about Rhaenyra discovering her dad died and all of what happened. Which means : Alicent who lies about the King's last wish, and all of the council who in fact already planned to go against his real desire. But then, they want for Rhaenyra and her family to be killed, when Alicent wants to push her son to not do it. That's why we have Otto and her trying to find Aegon on their own.
Aegon who fights so much… to not be King ! Aemon, seeing that, discussing it with Crinston… I'm pretty sure he's gonna kill or provoke the death of his brother at some point. The ceremony was well done, all of the choreography, the music, everything was so well done. You know I have been talking about Rhaenys since a long time, about the fact that I don't envy her life, that she's brave and she's right to think about herself. And that's what she did right there : she could have escaped silently but no, she wanted her dragon and was brave enough to go take it on her own ; she could have killed them all but no, she thinks about herself, surviving to everything.

Viserys permanently damaged Aegon's credibility as King. Aegon, Rhaenyra, no one is considered as the true heir by everyone, and that's the issue : one of the throne, supported by allies, it's gonna be contested by the other one, supported by other people. This war was predictable since the beginning, and all of the ones being like "we can't let the other potential heir alive" are right. It's frustrating, it's bad, but it's real. I'm not sure she wanted to prove they have no control on things and all, even if yes, it can be the thing they are all gonna remember here. "You have the crown, but for how long, you're safe nowhere." I really think that : she was supposed to escape, she wanted to escape, she was forced to see the coronation, she saw an opportunity to take back her dragon, she took it, she went out. She would have killed one of them here and proved even more what you say, but no, because she truly just thought of herself : getting out, with her dragon. Yeap, solid writing, loved the episode. Even if I just had my mom on phone and she had a different opinion : for her, the episode was too slow, and without the coronation and that end, it would have been an unnecessary episode, like things which could have been resolved in a time jump. For me, the episode is good because it's more a character episode, but some others, like my mom, prefer actions episodes.

2022-10-18 17:24:53 +0000 UTCThe writing in this episode is starting to make me feel like I did in the early seasons of GOT. 😁 Rhaenys has permanently damaged Aegon's credibility as king. A coronation is supposed to be a display of legitimacy and power; she proved that the Greens have no real control or authority. A lot of people died because of what she did, but most of the blame will go to the Hightowers for not being in control of their own coronation ceremony. Also, she proved that Alicent's argument about being able to wield power indirectly in this situation is BS. Solid writing. Good episode.
