Devlog 52 (Progress Update)

Hey all, how's it going. Just thought I'd let you guys know how it's been going for the game.

My general feel for it is that I'm over halfway done with the update. Story is all written, it's just a matter of art that I've got to do. This update is a pretty complicated one in that it links into the following update pretty heavily, and I'm not sure how I'm going to split the two, especially since the one after this one will be my biggest one so far. I'm either going to just release this update at a normal schedule and then release the one after it in maybe a three month timeframe, it'll take a long time to do. Either that, or I'll start chipping away at the next update while I'm doing this update, to lower its dev time, at the cost of increasing the time it'll take me to release this update. I could go either way, I haven't decided yet, once I've done more of the art for this update I'll make a decision, see how much spare time I have. Feel free to let me know what your opinions are, but know in the end I'm just gonna do whatever I feel is good.

Anyway, thanks for listening, I'll release some previews for two more characters next week, so look forward to that. See ya.

take your time. great game till now.

I’d prefer you only working on one update so that we get to play the update sooner but if you get inspiration to work on the next update while you’re doing this one then you should take advantage of that

Personally, I imagine that working on both updates simultaneously would be plenty more stressful compared to handling them one at a time. Nevertheless, I hope you will indeed choose the work method you find the most comfortable, regardless of what anyone else says. It's your game, and I for one am not going anywhere anytime soon.

The best option would be take the things slow and when you are sure that you can and with no pressure. I saw many projects start to fail because the devs burn out themself after weeks of work without a break. The game still will be there and so the people that supports you.

Keeping to a set update schedule is a good idea. It keeps you going at a pace you know you can reach, without a fear of burnout or further delays. Any schedule I attempt to keep at the shop is normally set with Murphy's Law in mind.

For your biggest update yet you got to go at your own pace, only when you feel like you have a good amount of time and energy, sounds like you have the next update under wraps so just focus on that and then go full focus on the next biggest update. No need to overwhelm yourself with both; one thing at a time...

Im all for the take your time approach so maybe work on both and delay the next version of the game?

I can just say that it's up to you in the end, altrough since people are used to certain timeline already that you've made if you would do longer update it would be nice if you could either ask in poll or at the very least mention that it'll take longer
