What's next!

Hey everyone!

I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer and that all’s well on your end!
On the Larky side of things, we’re still super excited about the full release of Cursed Covenant and have already started working on what’s next for LarkyLabs’ future.

First of all, welcome to everyone who recently joined us for Cursed Covenant's release! I hope you enjoyed the story, and that you’ll love what else we’ve been cooking over here! I’m so, so thankful for everyone who’s contacted us, commented, sent DMs, etc. You’ve given the entire team a huge morale boost, including me, as a creator. I’m beyond thankful. It’s literally keeping us all hyped and energized as we continue working on our projects.

Speaking of… here’s what you can expect from what’s next:

As we were gearing up to work on our next anime project (similar to Cursed Covenant), I went back on Patreon and looked through a couple of old scrapped projects to see if any of them felt like a good fit. And I found one in particular that’s very much in line with what we want to do next.
(The image below is from the old scrapped project, every character will change.)

Obviously, I’m changing the entire structure and plot, but the feeling and general lightness/playfulness of it was exactly what I needed after Cursed Covenant.

Here is our next anime title: Warrantide: Bounty of the broken line.

Here’s a few things I can tell you about the game, and how it differs from Cursed Covenant:

Project 2: Voiceless Elegy

While shaping up our anime title, I also looked at my non-anime projects: Roaming Everdawn and Simulove. Both were in early planning. Roaming Everdawn has one chapter out, but I’ve changed it multiple times due to scope issues. Too many variations, too many assets required, unstable gameplay, etc. At its current stage, I’m honestly not happy with it at all. The LI is too similar to Imazz/Exon, and the story/theme requires a good knowledge of trade/economy, which, I won't lie, I don’t have. Pushing forward now would only waste time and effort on a story I can’t deliver properly.

From Cursed Covenant, I’ve learned I need to 100% believe in a project for it to be good.

So, I went back to my pile of scrapped works and found one that perfectly fits where LarkyLabs is heading. It’s completely different from our anime title, which means we can run them like two separate projects with two teams, updating both. Switching between two very different worlds will be fun for me too, so that’s a bonus!

Here’s our Victorian dark fantasy horror/mystery: Voiceless Elegy

These are the main titles we’ll be working on for a while! I hope at least one of them has caught your interest!

I’ll also be working on Paper Masks whenever I can’t be at my computer, so expect more of that too!

Let me know what you think and what you’re hoping to see in these titles. If there’s a feature you’d love, tell me and I’ll see what I can do.

Once again, thank you so much for all the love! Let’s keep having fun, and keep creating new worlds and new loves to explore.

See you soon, and big kisses! 💜

Hi Amandie! Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, I don't have the funds to continue Glam Pursuit, as it requires %100 of my time and income, having to rely too heavily on art assets and voice acting, which I can't afford right now without a publisher(Which I cannot find at the moment due to my real life situation, having to take care of my terminally ill mother and not knowing when I can deliver a product or having to go to meetings away from home). For now, all of my time and effort has to stay with what keeps Larkylabs afloat, which is NSFW games & Patreon. I know a lot of people are curious and I keep getting questions about it, but it's difficult for me to talk about my real life situation, and I don't think I should, given this is a place for entertainment. Hence, I always hope and pray that it suffices when I shortly explain why I cannot continue a game, but I do understand why that is not always useful to everybody who are looking forward excitedly for a game that I can't release right now. I don't want to make a public announcement and talk about my private life on social media. I hope everybody understands that it's nothing personal, and not about me not wanting to continue certain projects. When it's your own personal business, it's always a game of staying afloat and doing your best despite life. I'm sorry if this disappoints, but if there was a way I could actually work on Glam Pursuit, I truly would. I am just grappling between my life, my business, my visa etc💜I'm not trying to be secretive, just private. Which is why I won't be answering this on tumblr, if that's ok. (If that's your ask, that is!)

Always exciting to see a new direction!! Also I’m curious I’m not sure if it’s been answered lately or not but is Glam Pursuit still in the cards? It’s actually what drew me to Larky Labs in the first place!

AMandie

Thank you, Stephanie! Thankfully, both of them were at the very beginning of production, so I can always save them for another time!☺️

Rinmaru

Nothing wrong with taking a step back! I think it's better to admit you're not in the right place for a game then keep pushing forward

Stephanie

Yes! I will definitely keep exploring new things! Both of these games are going to have new features I haven't tried before, which I'm super excited about! ☺️ I'm just trying to keep the testing inside my own scope, so I won't over-promise and under-deliver.

Rinmaru

Sad for Roaming Everdawn but these two games got my interest. I'm in general happy to see some elements of the Oathbreaker series come back in these two ideas and while I agree it's good to stick to one's strengths in a project, never be afraid to still explore new things too! Might find something you can work with after all.
