“And another one bites the dust!” Chie exclaimed, having literally kicked yet another Shadow into nonexistence before turning back to the rest of her party. “Phew! I’ll admit, this is a pretty good workout! Maybe coming back here wasn’t the worst idea after all.”
“Speak for yourself…” Rise muttered as she wrapped her arms close to her chest, obviously much less chipper than her tomboyish friend.
Honestly, it was hard for any of the others to blame her. The Investigation Team, as they had come to call themselves, had only just indoctrinated their new friend Naoto Shirogane into their ranks, following her capture and subsequent release from the TV World. The specifics surrounding that case and the group’s current activity were obtuse at best, but the basic gist was that there was somebody throwing various people into the strange world behind televisions that forced them to confront aspects of themselves long repressed, even creating a new environment based around that person’s (ahem) persona. While some of said environments were relatively mundane, like the previously mentioned Naoto’s underground lair based on a favorite show of her youth, some were a little bit more…embarrassing, to say the least.
Enter Rise Kujikawa and the physical manifestation of the conflict between her daring idol self and her more soft-spoken nature: Marukyu Striptease. It was a strip club. Her dungeon was a strip club and even after facing down her Shadow and accepting that Persona into her heart…here she was again. All because she had to go and blurt out that she felt a powerful new Shadow within her dungeon, which their leader Yu Narukami figured would make for excellent training for whenever the killer struck again. Of course, Rise had no choice but to tag along, despite her embarrassment; she was the team’s recon woman, able to scan their enemies and provide proper strategic maneuvers afterwards. There was no way she would abandon her post…even if it meant reliving her ultimate embarrassment.
Luckily for her, Yu was more than a little understanding of her discomfort, even offering his hand over her shoulder. “Sorry, I know this can’t be easy for you,” he stated with his usual cool yet caring sensibility, “but there’s nothing to worry about. We know this place isn’t you. At least…not all of you.”

Rise couldn’t help but smile back, even blushing a bit. “Thanks,” she replied, feeling slightly better by the boy’s act of comfort. “I’ll try holding things together. It’s just so weird coming back here after having been trapped for what? Two weeks? It was the scariest moment of my life, yet here I am…helping all of you fight off monsters here just for training. Yet…I guess it shows just how much has changed since then.” She finally managed to look up and give a genuine smile at Yu. “I mean…I have all of you this time around. And…all of Yu, I guess.” Try as she might, she couldn’t help giggling at her own dumb joke, though Yu couldn’t resist a good chuckle himself.
“So, where exactly is this new Shadow thing?” Kanji asked as he gave his limbs a good stretch. “I don’t mind this whole team bonding exercise or whatever, but this place is giving me the creeps.”
“Yeah, wouldn’t be nearly as bad if it wasn’t for the weird music,” Yosuke remarked, referring to the constant thumping of suggestive trance music throughout the club. “Where the heck is that even coming from?!”
“I don’t know, where did the magic strip club inside the TV World come from?” Chie asked while waving her hand as the group started walking up the next flight of stairs. “How does the layout of each place keep changing each time we come? There’s a lot of questions I doubt we’ll ever get answers to!”
“I’ll admit, it would be a lot easier to concentrate without it,” Yukiko added with a slightly annoyed look as she had no choice but to listen to the constant sexual moaning that helped comprise the soundtrack of their expedition.
“I believe it best to simply ignore for now,” Naoto suggested, even if she was no less disturbed by the dungeon, having only experienced it for the first time that day. “Let us merely focus on the matter at hand. We are nearing the very top of the dungeon, correct?”
“Yeah…here it is…” Rise replied as the team came across an all-too familiar giant pair of doors leading into the very room she was trapped in for a good week, all at the mercy of her personal Shadow. She couldn’t be more thankful of her new friends coming along and helping her accept the existence of the most unsavory aspects of her personality. She owed just as much thanks to Yu for helping work out those problems. He was always so kind and thoughtful and…well, cute, that who could blame her for falling for him?
“Alright…so, what exactly are we getting ourselves into?” Yosuke asked.
“Well, let us see,” the idol replied before summoning her Persona Himiko, the shaman princess appearing right behind her before shielding her eyes with a head device. Rise then took a deep breath before concentrating on the powerful force beyond the dungeon’s doors…only to end up stumbling backwards in complete shock, Himiko disappearing immediately afterwards. “Oh my god…”
“Wh-What? What is it?!” Chie asked, obviously disturbed by her friend’s immediate reaction. Considering all that Rise had encountered beforehand without much of a reaction, one such as that garnered a fair amount of worry.
Rise didn’t reply, though. She just stared back at the door for a moment in complete stunned silence before suddenly rushing through said doors with little provocation. Before the rest of the group could even shout at her for her rash behavior, she let out a positively blood-curdling scream.
“RISE!” just about everyone else shouted before running in after her. However, they found her merely standing in place, staring wide-eyed at some horror in front of her. The rest of the team followed her line of vision before happening upon an all-too familiar face. Mainly because it was an exact copy of the one staring at it, save for a pair of piercing, haunting yellow eyes, like a mere shadow of Rise’s visage…like a Shadow Rise.
“Whyyyyyyy hello~!” the Rise copy greeted the entire group with the trademark Shadow reverb. There stood the Shadow long thought conquered and converted into Himiko, yet standing there as healthy as the day the team was forced to fight her on her stage. At the very least, it was wearing Rise’s former frilly idol garb as opposed to the bright yellow two-piece from before. “Didja miss me?”
Almost everyone on the Investigation Team immediately assumed combat-ready stances with their weapons set and Arcana prepared. They were all ready for a fight, all except for Rise. She could only stare back at her double in complete mortification.
“Y-You…you’re not supposed to exist…” she muttered underneath her breath. “I accepted you! Y-You’re my Persona now! Just...who…what are you?!” Considering all the emotional willpower it took for her to accept her personal problems and welcome her Persona into her heart…she did not feel like going through all of it again. At least this time, she was ready to face her inner demons. “How do you even exist?!”
“Oh, trust me, I’m not quite me…at least the me that you think I am of you,” the Shadow playfully laughed back as if the entire situation was one big joke. “You’d be surprised how much a persona can warp with time. We gain new attributes, new feelings, new…” It started eyeing Yu suggestively, who looked rather unsure how to reciprocate. “…interests…”
“Yeah, this is getting weird,” Chie remarked, feeling increasingly uncomfortable about the situation. “Can we just beat this thing and call it a day?”
“No…if this is another aspect of myself that I have to accept, I’m willing to,” the real Rise stated before taking a deep breath and staring down her double. “Alright, hit me with whatever you want to say. I can take it!”
“Hehe, funny thing about that,” the Shadow lightly giggled. “See, I’m not exactly what you’d call a typical Shadow self. I’m not a part of you, so much as a copy of the best part of you!” She then spun around in a melodramatic manner before posing for the entire team. “I’m just your adorable idol goddess, Risette! Now happily separated from that dreadful bore Rise Kujikawa.” Aaaaaaaaand there went any amount of cool left inside Rise, replaced exclusively with searing anger.
“Why you little-!” She stomped her foot down in defiance. “That’s it, enough stalling! Everyone, att…ack…?” Rise found herself pausing as she noticed that the Shadow had disappeared from its original spot, only to reappear with its arms wrapped around an understandably surprised Yu’s neck, its plentiful bosom squishing against his chest.
Once again, Yu had no idea how to react, leaving him only able to blush and try to avert his eyes from the dolled-up simulacrum of his friend getting way too comfy with him. “Please stop…” he suggested in his usual stoic tone in a fruitless attempt at personal space. “This is weird.”
“Oooooh, trust me, I know~” the Shadow practically purred as she continued rubbing herself along the teen’s everything. “But you’re used to being weird, aren’t ya? You’re a real wild card! And that’s just what I love about you. Unlike that boring hag Rise-“
“HEY!”
“-you have potential. Unlimited potential. That makes you interesting. Entertaining, even! You can take on as many Personas as you like…so now I have to ask you…” Despite everyone besides the still stiff Yu primed and ready for a proper boss battle, the Shadow Risette got down on one knee and merely offered her hand to the silver-haired protagonist. “…will you accept me into your heart?”
“DON’T FALL FOR IT, IT’S A TRAP!” Kanji immediately shouted in retaliation. “She’s just trying to lure you in with her feminine wiles!”
“Yeah, I bet she’s hiding some type of poisonous thorn or something on her hand!” Chie warned as well. “Or she’ll drain your energy or something. Just don’t do it!”
Common sense dictated that Yu didn’t take the very forward Shadow up on its offer. Yet if it was a trap, it was a mighty good one. He could sense the Shadow’s true intentions; it genuinely wanted him to accept it into his heart. It was a strange offer to be sure; never had a Persona actively went out to seek him. Yet there’s a strange feeling in his gut that this Shadow had nothing short of pure intentions. Then again, this was his first time encountering a Shadow with any kind of intentions at all. Still, he couldn’t sense any malice behind the Rise clone’s hopeful, downright pleading look.
Oh…what the hell? He’d allowed plenty of stranger entities into his heart. Why deny this one? So, much to the Rise’s visual glee, Yu accepted the Persona’s hand. Everyone around could only gasp and stare at their conjoined hands in terror.
“Oooooh, thank you, thank you, Senpai~!” the idol cheered as she immediately sprang up and nearly smothered Yu in an eternally grateful hug. “I won’t let you regret this! I promise!” With that said, the Persona started to glow as she was welcomed into the boy’s heart. “I am you and you are me. At least…now you are. Thank you…” It wasn’t too much longer before the Rise double faded away entirely into the boy’s heart, her only remains being a floating blue tarot card, which Yu calmly received in his hand.
“Dude, no offense, but that was super stupid,” Yosuke stated, easing up a bit despite still being on edge. “I couldn’t imagine a more obvious trap. But…are you alright, at least? Did the Shadow do anything to you?”
“No…I think I’m good,” Yu replied with his typical nonchalant tone. However, he then proceeded to whip around in an extremely uncharacteristic manner before giving the boy a flirtatious wink. “Better than ever, actually!”
The entire room seemed to freeze at that moment. Even the sensual soundtrack ceased after playing a comical record scratch. The entire Investigation Team stared at their leader with various levels of slacked jaws. Yu returned with a rather confused look.
“What?” he asked simply.
“I hope you don’t mind me saying that your little burst appeared…out of character,” Naoto finally replied after nobody else seemed willing to. “Are you sure there were no adverse effects of your…newest acquisition?”
“I don’t believe so,” Yu replied simply, only to end up giggling in an alien, downright feminine high pitch as he started wiggling around in only the most girly of manners. “If anything, I feel totes better! I don’t know why, but I just feel awesome for some reason! I’m all perky and energetic and…” His little outburst came to an abrupt stop as he gave a tiny cough, albeit one in the same soft soprano as before. “Ah. Sorry, got a little carried away there. Anyway…” He then started looking around the room, as if nothing even happened and his voice wasn’t that of a teenage girl’s.
“Are we seriously just going to ignore that?!” Yosuke shouted back before running up to their appointed leader. “Are we just supposed to ignore that you sound like total chick now?” He paused for a moment as he bared witness to Yu’s usual bowl cut rapidly growing out, all the way down to shoulders and showing no sign of stopping. “Dude, don’t tell me you’re not noticing anything crazy going on with you!”
“Of course I’ve noticed,” the boy replied as calmly as ever as he casually brushed off his now luscious locks that now extended a fair bit past his shoulders, a couple strands even reaching down to his chest. “I’m not an idiot. But what does it matter? This is just a part of me now.”
“What?!”
“Senpai, you can’t be serious!” Rise replied as she ran up to Yu as well with worry across her face. “Just what did my Shadow do to you? I’m so sorry about all of this…” She stared down at the floor as she started tearing up. “This is all my fault…I should have warned you…” There was a brief pause, as if the girl was only now realizing something, before perking up her head in a fit of righteous anger. “Wait, I DID tell you! What the hell did you do that for?!”
“Because I knew that if I rejected the Shadow, it would just end up going crazy,” Yu replied simply, even as he kept on twitching thanks to his skull more or less carving itself. It certainly wasn’t the most pleasant experience of the boy’s life, but somehow the entire conversion of his skull into something a lot rounder and less rigid solicited nothing more than a soft grunt of annoyance. “Oof. Sorry, that felt weird. But you know how Shadows work. Like them or not, you must accept them into heart no matter what.” He then paused a moment as he felt his lips swell up slightly while gaining a new healthy sheen to them. After giving them a good smack, he couldn’t help but give a small giggle. “Huh. Cherry.”
“But it was my Shadow!” Rise retorted while stomping her foot down in frustration. “It was mine to accept! I’m not even sure why it wanted you.”
Naoto couldn’t help but hum to herself as she attempted to analyze the situation in her own head. “It is true that we’ve never experienced one’s Shadow attempting to make a contract with another person,” she stated out loud in a thoughtful low tone. “Perhaps by accepting an aspect of Rise’s, specifically that of her idol persona, Senpai is gaining an entirely new aspect of himself.”
“Yeah, sounds about right,” Yu replied as he looked at his reflection through a tiny compact mirror in his now dainty little hands. Whatever was working its magic on him was doing a thorough job, even going so far as to color his newly extended fingernails a bright yellow. Though, what really had his attention now was his new face. The entire thing had been shaken up, altered to its core. Gone was the pretty boy visage of old. His nose was now cute and petite, his eyes larger and even cuter, and a fair amount of makeup now expertly littered his face, showing off his new soft features and making him the absolute cutest~! Once again, he couldn’t stifle a tiny giggle as he looked upon his new adorable self. “Ya know, I totally rock this look.”
“Could you try taking any of this remotely seriously?!” Chie finally shouted out as she marched on over to the incredible changing teenager. As soon as she caught up with him, however, she found herself at near eye level with him, a troubling sight considering the entire head Yu usually had on her. Hell, his entire wardrobe had become loose around his progressively petite frame, even his sleeves had become oversized over his diminutive limbs. “Hey, wait, where did you even get that mirror?”
“You know…I don’t know,” their everchanging leader replied before snapping the mirror shut and stowing it away in one of the pockets of his vastly oversized jeans, which were struggling just to stay afloat. In fact, the only thing keeping them from falling off entirely appeared to be his rather sizable booty and matching waist. Chie never spent ample attention to those particular areas of Yu before, but that was before his pants were so low that she could see his ample butt crack. At least he had the decency to try and hold them up.
“A-Are you seriously not even the slightest bit worried about turning into a girl at all?!” the tomboy shouted again, growing even more exasperated by the second as she shook her head around. “How are you taking this so well?!”
“Why shouldn’t I?” was Yu’s immediate response. “I mean, I’m still me, no matter what changes. It isn’t the most radical of changes, honestly. Probably helped that actually becoming a girl was the first step, though.”
“I-I…wait, what?” Chie asked before her face started shining beet red as her eyes involuntarily headed to the “boy’s” crotch. “Y-You mean…?”
“Yeah…” Yu replied with a sigh belying the slightest bit of embarrassment. “It was surprisingly quick and painless. Took me awhile to even realize that things were different downstairs. But, now that they are…” The apparent girl tried to shake off the awkward subject with a literal shrug. “Think you could start calling me Yui now? I already started calling myself that. You know, in my head and stuff. Hope you don’t mind.”Stunned silence prevailed once again. There was a sense that somebody wanted to say something, but just didn’t know what to say or how to say it properly. Instead, everyone just stared at a slightly bashful Yu Yui as he she shielded his her chest awkwardly. In doing so, everyone present locked eyes directly to said chest, , leading to the girl turning around in a moment of sheer embarrassment.
“It’s not polite to stare, you know…” Yui pouted as she shielded her slowly blossoming chest, even as her increasingly sensitive nipples rubbed up against her signature white dress shirt. Things became just a little bit too tight, leading to her loosening one of the buttons, allowing her newly formed cleavage to breathe just a little bit. Speaking of, further inspection revealed her new bust to be, for lack of a better word, sizable. Actually, they were quite large, probably even the largest within the group. Visibly, at least. The mystery of Naoto’s bust size was still unsolved, but even she seemed rather taken aback by the size of her Senpai’s chest.
“Oh dear…” Yukiko softly gasped to herself, both astonished by and slightly envious of the new bumps around Yui’s chest. It was hard enough believing that the boy she had once possessed, uh…warm feelings for had become an absolute bombshell of a woman, her figure even rivaling that of Rise. At least all of the figure that everyone could see under the girl’s incredibly oversized clothes now. “I-Is it over?”
“I…think so,” their now female leader replied as she pensively swayed her new goods around. “Feels like it.”
“H-How exactly…do you feel?” Chie asked with an awkward smile, trying not to seem too pervasive.
“You know…not all that different,” Yui replied with a small smile. “Kind of feels natural, actually. I’m just glad it’s finally all ov-“ The girl’s response was unceremoniously cut off thanks to a blue flash of light enveloping her, causing her to levitate in midair by some supernatural force.
“Senpai!” a solid half of the Investigation Team cried out in response, while the other half were left calling out for Yui by her former name. Both methods proved futile, however. What followed truly had to be seen to be believed.
It was a sight right out of a magical girl anime. Yui was suspended in mid-air while all her oversized clothing exploded into nothing more than magical floating ribbons of various fabrics. The ribbons wrapped around various parts of the girl’s form, firstly around her chest and crotch areas (which may have been exposed to the rest of teammates at that moment), before solidifying into new pieces of clothing entirely. Her female nudity was soon covered up with an admittedly very short frilly skirt and a tight white and red corset that managed to (mostly) hold her cleavage in place. Additional ribbons ran down her torso, recreating her original jacket in a manner that really didn’t cover up anything. Several more went on to wrap around Yui’s various appendages, forming a silky pair of leggings that just helped to accentuate the legs they clung to, perfectly complimented by a pair of black gloves, both with adorable little frills at the end despite the left one covering more arm than the other. The floating mass of silver hair was even put under control, with one specific ribbon going so far as taking a single strand and curling it at the tip, before tying it together in a neat little red bow. With the ribbons now completely spent, the rest of the little details seemingly materialized from thin air. A necklace there, a bracelet here, a couple of earrings there and there, and, just to ensure a safe landing, a nice pair of ruby heels that clacked against the floor of the strip club as Yui was gently lowered down.
Yui took a deep breath of relief before looking over her new ensemble. She frowned slightly, not sure how to feel about resembling the crossroad between an idol and a stripper. Guess it sort of made sense, considering the setting. There was no doubt in her mind that she was absolutely rocking the look, though.
“S-So…is it over now?” Yukiko asked with a similar nervous smile.
“Yeah…feels like it,” their leader replied with a nod before twirling around to face her teammates, hiking up her legs and flashing a peace sign in the most adorable pose. “Like what you see~?”

“NO!” Rise cried out near instantaneously as she stomped down her foot in frustration. “No, no, NO! This isn’t right! Stop…stop being…this!” She grew increasingly flustered and agitated to the point of tearing up. “This isn’t you! This is me…this is…is…” The girl jumped up upon Yui laying a comforting hand on her shoulder, coupled with an equally comforting smile. It was strange to see the same warm Yu smile with a feminine touch, yet there was no doubt that the person behind the smile was anyone different.
“I understand that you’re confused,” Yui weakly smiled back before looking at the entire rest of the team. “You’re probably all confused.”
“Hell yeah, we are!” Kanji shouted back, a visible bead of sweat of running down his obviously flustered face. “Do you really expect us to just accept you turning into some hot chick?”
“Not immediately, no,” she responded before sighing. “This is quite a lot for me to take in as well. This is a new aspect of me entirely, that hasn’t even existed up until this point. But I am perfectly willing to accept it and I hope all of you will consider the same.” The new idol then let out a tiny giggle before eyeing the two outnumbered boys of the group, giving them a flirtatious wink before blowing them a kiss. “Especially you two cuties~!”
Naturally, the entire group was left speechless once more, with Yosuke and Kanji rendered more or less catatonic. So much so that it took a hearty slap from Chie and Naoto just to snap them back to reality, or at least the surreal situation that now constituted reality.
“What the hell, man?!” Yosuke finally snapped at his freshly female friend. “What did you do that for?!”
“Because I’m an idol,” Yui retorted with her signature nonchalant shrug. “It’s what idols do.” With that said, she flipped her hair around and headed towards the exit, finally leaving the accursed stage. “Alright, let’s head back, team. I think we deserve to call it a day.”
“R-Right…” Chie muttered before following behind, backed by the rest of the group. At this rate, they were having trouble telling where the old Yu began and the new idol side of him ended, or if such a divide even existed. Or maybe he just always had a little bit of idol in him.
