Nipple shields were designed to help baby latch not improve latch. Nipple shields can be a barrier if you are using them for the wrong reason. Nipple shields should be used only to familiarize baby. Babies who are separated after birth and were bottle fed. The plastic nipple should only be use to help get baby comfortable then removed.
