Angel Art & QOTW!

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a nice weekend! :) My night so far has been full of drawing and editing. For those who follow me on Twitter, the bug that plagued my room is gone now so I was finally able to record xD

I first want to say that this upcoming Friday's audio is going to be Ali's choice so no poll this time around! I have a character idea that I think will be pretty fun to execute so I'm looking forward to working on it :D I'm also going to try and record a ramble sometime too since there's some things I'd like to chat about.

So, for this question I'm curious to know if you have one thing you'd like to do or try at least once. I've always had a dream of selling art at an anime convention in the artist alley. The whole idea of setting up a table and prepping merchandise always sounded really fun to me :)

If it didn't have any risks to the animal I would pet all of them. But I also especially would like to pet all felines! Snow leopards in particular look very soft. I wish you luck if you do attempt to make a VN!

JokermanTalon

I love Cheetahs, they are so cute. I'd love to pet one too! Honestly there are a lot of animals I'd love to pet, especially those of the feline family :P Maybe one day I'll look into the visual novel thing, that sound like fun. Thanks for the recommendation! :)

alichu

If you do ever want to just make a visual novel then it shouldn't be too hard in the day and age. There's things like TyranoBuilder that make the process a lot easier than starting from scratch. Although I don't have much experience with them, other than knowing they exist. so they may be a bit limited depending on what you want to do. Also yes! Penguins are great and they make funny noises! For more exotic things, I would also like to attempt to pet a Cheetah as they don't have any recorded incident of killing humans but that may be something that has to be done at a Zoo unfortunately lol.

JokermanTalon

I don't know too much about the ins and outs of making a game, but I know a lot of work goes into it. It seems like you and Gandalf know your stuff though, so I truly wish the best for you both. If either of you make a game let me know and I'll be sure to check it out! While I don't know a damn thing about programming or designing, I always thought a visual novel or pixel game would be fun to do. As for meeting different exotic animals, that's cool af! I love those videos of people watching penguins, such cute little guys :P

alichu

It's funny you asked that because I talk about my way of dealing with bugs in a ramble I'll be posting soon. It's a super effective method I promise! :P Please do a retrospective on AoT, I would love to hear that. I enjoy listening to anime reviews and stuff and I think it's neat to hear other's opinions on them. As for the Blockbuster idea, hell I'd go hang out there. Nice nostalgic trip would be cool af. I think there's one Blockbuster still open, right? In a tiny town somewhere in Oregon? That's called dedication

alichu

Super true, there’s so many comedians I enjoy lol. A few are Jeff Dunham, Gabriel Iglesias, Eddie Murphy, and Kevin Heart, are just a few I find super funny!

Vince

I love that idea. I'm a big fan of comedians and stand up so that's really cool :) Do you have any favorite comedians? I know getting on stage may be scary, but you only live once. You may really like it!

alichu

Very cool! That's one reason I enjoy the Weiss card game so much- it's a thrill trying to get the signed cards by one of the voice actors :) As for skydiving, while I find the idea cool I could never do it myself x__x I would probably feint the second I was in the air haha! I hope you're able to do that sometime though. Like Antoni I'm going to have to start calling you a daredevil lol.

alichu

Thank you very much. I'll try to let you know when I get a new comic going. I do have an old comic on my Webtoon/Tapas under my same username if you want a read.

Kai Zomei

That's really awesome! I'd say you're doing great at the comic artist dream too, it's nice seeing your artwork on twitter. If you start a comic at any point I'd love to see it :)

alichu

Haha, maybe you've developed psychic powers! Word of advice, you probably don't want to get inside my head, lots of strange stuff in there xD I don't mind killing small spiders, but I always have this fear of killing the big ones. Back in high school a kid stepped on a spider and wouldn't you know a bunch of little babies invaded the cafeteria right after. I've been terrified ever since lol. As for the free fall, I have to say that sounds really scary! x__x I don't have a fear of heights necessarily, but I'd be pretty scared to do that lol. Very cool idea though! If you do that I'm going to have to start calling you a daredevil :P

alichu

Yeah I really need to play around with UE more, it seems fun to just mess around with even if I'm not making anything. Hope you are able to get your career in games to take off!

JokermanTalon

Haha, can't argue with that about twitter! I try to stop myself when I get into the mindless scrolling, but I continue to find myself a victim to it at times lol. Racing sounds like it would be a lot of fun! I would probably be too scared to do it myself, but I wouldn't mind being a passenger while someone else did the driving :P

alichu

It would be pretty cool to go to space! Ngl though, I'd be too scared to leave Earth xD I already hate riding planes much less on a spaceship. Scuba diving sounds like fun too. I do get that fear though, when I was young I almost drowned so it can be tough conquering it. You can always start small by going in a pool!

alichu

That's totally understandable. UE, while powered by blueprint, actually originally is coded for C++ work, so it's definitely powerful in that regard. Nowadays I prefer UE overall but that's just me. And yeah, sadly remote work is so overfilled right now that I'm definitely forced to find other work. So we're kinda in the same boat, except I eventually want to take my career off proper.

TheGandalf

Making a game is awesome! I know a lot of work goes into that, but you can always take your time and work on it at your own pace. I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that you can "feel" the difference when a game was made with passion. It's games like that people remember years later :)

alichu

Yeah I went to college for game programming as well. I've worked with a few designers when we had to do some Agile Scrum training as well as working on a project for school. Especially as most of our lessons used Unity which is a lot more code heavy than something like UE. I'm kinda in a similar state for my career in games although not due to being burnt out. There just isn't really any game developers where I live and the student debt I have has prevented me from really being able to go anywhere else. I also have started to really enjoy what I currently do so if I did end up making something it would be more of a passion project rather than a career.

JokermanTalon

Oh wow, I was mentioned! And it's pretty cool that you've done a lot already for your dream. I work in game design, so I'm the person that actually works to make the game actually fun, prototypes to see what works, and make sure the project itself goes smoothly with all disciplines. :P Right now for me is that university burned me out so hard and I've lost that overall goal of mine. I've been in a slump and had lost almost all my motivation. I still want to make games, truly. There's a lot going on in the back end that I'm still figuring out and wanting to go to therapy for. Don't be afraid to pick up a game engine and learn it, however!

TheGandalf

I've no idea! I've worked with Unreal Engine a ton so more likely 3d. But the engine does have flipbook 2d-esque rendering.

TheGandalf

My dream is pretty similar to TheGandalf, I would really like to make a RPG I have had in my mind since college. I've even made a GDD (Game Design Document) and I have also made very quick story boards for the first portion of the game. I am fairly confident with my skills in programming but not so much in almost all other aspects such as art and writing. At least for art I am quit fond of pixel art and am sure I could learn it in a reasonable amount of time but I don't even know where to begin with writing lol. For something I would like to try once, it's much smaller in scale. I just want to meet all types of exotic animals even if I don't interact with them directly. I love videos of people in the Antarctic and them having seals or penguins walk up to them. They aren't able to touch them or really respond in anyway but even just seeing a curious little creature come up to you is cool! I also don't really count going to a zoo for various reasons.

JokermanTalon

What are you planning on making it 2D or 3D?

Sir Skelington

What's worse, having to kill a bug in your bedroom, or seeing a bug in your bedroom and losing it? As for things I want to do, I really want to do a retrospective on AoT when it finally finishes. Another thing I want to do that's a lil crazier is I want to buy Blockbuster and have it make a comeback as as niche local movie and game renting store with arcade machines and a small place for a few friends to watch movies, but that one could take a while lol.

Sir Skelington

Noelle’s wings look so incredible I just love the detail! That’s a good question well if at least one time as crazy as it seems I would want to try and do stand up comedy in front of an audience. I use to love telling jokes and stories that would make my friends laugh so I was always curious if those jokes could actually work and make other people I don’t know laugh.

Vince

I've never been to one of those artist conventions, but I do enjoy owning physical art of artists I like. I have a little print collection I'm always adding to, I've got several signed prints from the voice actors of my favourite games and shows too. As for what I'd like to try in the future, I want to go skydiving at least once! The feeling of free fall, the rush of the drop, and the the view would be incredible. Scary, but beautiful.

codytachi

That's great you were able to get some recordings done. I have two childhood dreams I wanted to do: I thought it would be neat to invent a flying vehicle or hovercraft. I sorta got the inventor dream by becoming an engineer. The other dream was to become a comic artist. Had thoughts about making a comic series that could span years like so many successful manga.

Kai Zomei

That's funny. I've recently been thinking about how cool it would be if you had a panel at a convention where we could buy signed posters & merch from you and even meet you in person. You're convincing me more everyday that I've acquired mind-reading. lol Glad you got rid of that flying ant. I had to kill a big spider last night. Well, I suppose I didn't "have" to, but ain't no way I'm sleeping soundly with that thing in my house. It was huge! I saw the your new hyena girl, I really like it! I love her industrial piercing and necklace- both of which look to be made of her prey's bones! Just my theory but damn! Better get my thick skin out for that one. Hopefully the ramble will be gentler, looking forward to that too! As for what I would want to try. Hmm, this might sound scary but I would love to perform a real-life leap of faith from 150ft. Not a bungee jump, just a simple free-fall. Of course, in order to ensure a safe and injury-free landing, below me would have to be a large surface area of several layers of soft material that could absorb me and 'slow' me down as opposed to coming to a sudden halt - which could be dangerous and or lethal. We're talking perhaps a 40 metre deep pool of squishies or something. It's quite monumental and ambitious, but how cool would something like that be?

Artilleries

First I would like to say good job on getting better from your sickness (I would also like to say I don't use Twitter I would like to keep my brain) second I can't wait for the new audio since it gives me some noise and something to think about during work (it helps me alot so thx) and something Ive wanted to do hmm. Most likely racing on the Lemans track testing the limits of my vechical as it screams down the track that would be my dream

Yaginsail

Hmmm maybe one thing I'd like to dream of doing would be to visit space like on a space station or the moon but that's soooo far in the future that it's just a dream lol. As for something I'd want to do is conquer my fear of the ocean and learn how to swim as I'd like to go scuba diving but I can't swim and I'm abousltelty terrified of the ocean I forgot what the term is called when your afraid of the ocean or like deep ocean

Crimson command

Well, my "dream" really, is finishing a game and having someone enjoy it one day. I live too humbly to really dream big nowadays, but I used to want to be known as a game designer that really did something big for video games. As for something I'd want to do at least once? Hmm... Live in japan, probably. :P
