I thought it would be fun to ask you all what your guilty pleasure is? It can be food, music, or whatever. Also don't feel like you have to comment if you don't want haha! I just thought this would be a fun topic :D
For me, I would say my biggest guilty pleasure is drinking too much caffeine (lots of coffee). I also have a bad habit of buying books and either not reading them all or getting to them like a year later. As a result, my place has random books in weird places lol.

The WoW and energy drink part was me for sure. Back in 2019 when classic WoW came out I was really bad. Since work was a little slow back then because of...well, you know lol all I did all day every day was play that game. *ahem* But let me go back to present adult Alichu for a moment and tell you that indulging is good every now and then, but we should all learn to restrict! Or something...don't listen to me, I'm a terrible role model haha! Seriously though, it's good to be able to look back and see things that may not have been the best health wise- so good for you on that! :)

As someone who went through a good portion of school hiding their interests from others, I can say for certain that it's not worth it. It's much better to find those who accept you as you are. Thanks for sharing some of your guilty pleasures- I can definitely relate to a couple of those hehe :P

If we rewind to three years ago I would have to say cigarettes, energy drinks, and WoW. I'd crack a drink, que for a BG, smoke during the que, play BG, win/lose and go smoke again. Enjoyed it in the moment, but thinking back on it I see how much harm I probably did. I try to slow up on the energy drinks, but still happen to grab one every time I head to the store lol. Lastly, Italian sandwiches I love them, could eat them everyday, its grown to be a problem really lol

I worked two jobs for a while and couldn't go without an energy drink, but I've since quit and only push mid roast black coffee and the blackest of black teas. YouTube Camping is the worst of em, but I also avoid haircuts and car registrations, voiding and thinking about what to text friends and fam and then not sending it, vg's with friends can ommit any and all priorities, bad screamo music, good emo music, bad horror flicks, Pat Metheny's Quartet album, moonlight bong hits, too many tarot cards, too little focus, and too little trust in a world that deserves more. Dancing alone at home. Music that is cool to no one. For real tho it's anime of any kind. But I've decided since arriving here that I don't care about any who find cringe in it and no longer wish to find guilt in a hobby I buried a decade ago in shame. The real shame is that I found shame in it all all.

In one of the shows I mentioned (OreShura) they also had the character reject the other characters in the Harem, it doesn't really work out cause rom-com hijinks happen but I think it's a nice message to try to not lead people on if you've chosen someone. Also I have seen Akashic Record! I love it lol. The scene where he says "I love you" to her in class to demonstrate the power of words lives rent free in my head every few months. Also him calling her Shiro Neko (May have spelt it wrong, idk Japanese) reminds me of a character I really like from another anime that's called Kuroneko

2023-06-09 13:21:49 +0000 UTCDang, I'm sorry to hear about the Monogatari thing- I totally get that though. I've had friends that have tried to push shows on me and I get that feeling. I've gone through a lot of phases in my life where I've binged a bunch of anime- a good handful being harems. After a while I couldn't help but start wondering if a MC would ever pick a girl- I just needed at least one! This one may not be as harem themed as some and I'm not sure if he picks a girl or not, but "Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor" is a good one if you haven't seen that!

"Forbidden" by D'espairsRay, "ALSATIA" by GALNERYUS, and I'm going to throw in Dir En Grey but just be warned that a lot of their songs and videos are...dark and creepy :P

After my coffee I move on to the redbull after doing some exercise- sadly I can't find Bang in the stores I shop at but damn, that stuff is good! I admit that I do enjoy having a drink on my days off- there's nothing better than playing a game and having a drink in my opinion :D That's so cool that you went to Europe! I haven't read all the messages yet between you and Antoni, but it seems like you know some Polish? What a smart cookie you are! Sadly, I haven't had the chance to go outside the US yet, but one day :)

I don't believe I've ever been to Gdynia, but whilst the topic of Germany managed to sneak into the conversation - I do have some family in that country also. Though, I don't speak German (except for a couple lines I've learned from Battlefield 1 lol). Also kudos to you for being able to swim during winter. Central & Eastern Europe are known for their FREEZING winters. ❄😮

(Hopefully that was accurate enough, the only Polish I know is from the little bit of Duolingo I did haha) Pretty solid beer, that Tyskie. Your mom’s got good taste! I bet I drank a couple gallons worth over my months there haha No family or friends in Poland, was there for work reasons. Had plenty of time off while I was there though so I got to do some sightseeing, even went to Germany during Thanksgiving and hit up the Christmas markets in Berlin! Spent Christmas in Gdynia, and did a winter swim in the Baltic Sea. It was late December so the water was only 02C, just above freezing, what an experience!

For a non-drinker who's beginning to explore alcoholic beverages, it was actually quite nice. And the Slims Jims is quite interesting too - similar to kabanos snacks. When on the topic of American-European tourism, slavic areas are not usually in the spotlight from what I've seen. Any relation or have you got friends there?

2023-06-08 18:55:11 +0000 UTCDamn I can relate to the caffeine thing, I brew 6 cups of coffee every morning to jumpstart my cardiovascular system and slam a Bang to get me through the rest of the day. Caffeine dependency becomes me, I honestly think my heart requires at least 600mg+ of caffeine daily to continue beating at this point haha I’m a bit of a hedonist so if we were gonna talk about ALL my guilty pleasures I’d end up writing a book and I already write long enough comments haha, so let’s just do two. Starting with alcohol! I was drunk every damn weekend during my half year spent in Europe. The USD is worth 4x more than than the złoty so I basically was 4x wealthier during my time there and MAN did I have a good time. Since getting back to the good ol’ U S of A though I had to whip my ass back into shape, alcohol is just horrible on your body. Now I limit myself to three drinks per day on weekends only, can’t let all the hard work in the gym go to waste! That being said I’m legit into mixology so I basically own a bars worth of liquor lol Also Slim Jims. Holy hell do I love those things. I know it’s basically a stick of highly processed, sodium-filled plastic poorly masquerading as a meat product but fuuuuuck they’re good haha

2023-06-08 14:21:18 +0000 UTCI love cooking but I don't get to do it much since, as I mentioned awhile ago, I'm still having to live with my parents due to student debt and they handle most of the cooking. However I can't lie and say the days where I spend 45 minutes making an omelet, hash browns, bacon, and toast and it all getting eaten in 5-10 minutes does feel kinda like a waste lol. I haven't actually seen Monogatari as an old friend tried to push it on me super hard and it soured it for me, so I don't know if it's a harem or not lol, but it's probably close enough. The only harmen show I can think of with that would be Yamada-kun and the seven witches (body swap show), and that does end with them together. Off the top of my head there is also Chivalry of a Failed Knight, OreShura, and Lord Marksman and Vanadis (I think, can't remember if they actually end up together in this one or it's just very strongly implied). There's also technically Yosuga no Sora which is an adaptation of an Eroge I think which has the routes animated so technically they all get chosen. HOWEVER, it is VERY NSFW for anyone reading this. It's basically a hentai. Ali might not mind since she mentioned doujins just hanging around her place in another comment but I wanted to give a warning in case anyone looks up the things I talk about lol. I never really thought I would meet another person that would share my thought about harems and the MC picking someone, but it's very nice to hear that I'm not the only one. Also while I don't search it out through harems now, I do still watch a lot of romance/rom-com shows, but I don't consider it a guilty pleasure like another comment as I like it in all mediums; books, TV shows, movies, games, etc. so people would already just expect me to like them.

My thing is that I don't like to cook most days. After working and coming home I just want to draw and write, so a lot of times I find myself getting something already made at the store. I couldn't help but chuckle when I read your comment about the harem anime. I myself started trying to find ones where the MC picked a girl. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Monogatari (if you count that as a harem) and the other one has a character named Yamada...I can't remember the full name of it though. I could be totally wrong about that last one haha!

Other than going to my job that's literally all I did 24/7 and I absolutely loved it xD As for the rom-com animes- do you have any favorites? I consider myself dead inside most the time, but every once in a while I like them too!

I look forward to seeing the artwork :) I remember when I was in school, I used to be so scared of people finding out the music I listened to- not so much the emo/metal stuff, but the Japanese music. Growing up in the country no one knew about that stuff, so I felt alone in my likes when it came to that- I definitely understand! Now I just drive and listen to all of it, in fact- I sometimes turn it up louder! :P

It's so expensive but not having to do anything is really nice sometimes lol. In the past though I went down a rabbit whole of watching an absolute shit ton of harem anime, like Highschool DxD and shit. It got so bad that at a point I had to look up specific shows where the MC actually chose one of them as I couldn't stand all the will they won't they plots lol. I don't really regret it tho, some of those shows are pretty funny still

I don't drink caffeine but I heard that you can get a similar crash after consuming too much

Up to no good, are we? hehe I can relate to drinking caffeine (I love Coke & Pepsi). The thing that makes me a menace is my music taste. Yes - I do share *some* interests with others (BMTH, Dr Peacock, MCR etc). But, when I'm on my own, I close the curtains and vibe to some dirty brostep/tearout and 2000s British dubstep. One is a genre that sounds almost alien-like and the other is its underground predecessor. We all know Skrillex and Virtual Riot - but the REAL DUBstep is rooted in 2000s London. Even still, I'd never play any of that in front of my friends, I feel they wouldn't understand it. But to me, it speaks to my soul. 🥺 I'm sure you know something that gives you that feeling.
