I apologize if the video or audio quality isn't that great, I had to film in a somewhat awkward position to avoid glare, although there is still some >:( lol.
This video is just me chatting about my history of art classes in school and why I disliked them. I also talk about my one and only time in detention, all while showing off some of my TCG collection. Feel free to skip out on this if you like, I know these types of videos aren't for everyone. I thought it would be fun to post a little something extra this week and maybe give you a nice laugh :)

I had a lot of old Pokémon cards too that sadly got lost. I have a sneaking suspicion that my two younger siblings took them, but I'll never be able to prove it haha! I remember playing two Yu-Gi-Oh games for the gameboy advance and they were incredibly fun. One was a playthrough of the Kaiba tournament and the other was just solo dueling with a BUNCH of cards to make decks with. It's crazy how different the card game plays now, but I still enjoy the cards very much! :)

I like doing videos like this now and then, it feels like a nice way to chat with you all :) That's awesome that your art teacher was cool and supportive- I'm jealous! lol. There's a manga called "Blue Period" that's all about art and whenever I read it, I'm like, "What the hell? Where were all these art teachers when I was in school?!" xD Of course, I wanted to give a verbal thank you! Getting art is always a great feeling :D

I dunno what it is with art teachers man, everyone I know who’s taken art classes seems to have nothing good to say about their art teachers. I must’ve got lucky with mine, she was just the sweetest lady, had a lot of great convos with her. While she didn’t really get the appeal of the anime style, and obviously needed people to do things a certain way to learn the basics, she still encouraged people developing their own styles and processes to express their creativity. Thanks for the shout out at the end there! Wasn’t expecting that but it was a nice surprise haha

2023-05-10 02:45:55 +0000 UTCI wish I could say that a teacher wouldn't be that spiteful, but then I would just be lying. Glad you stuck with art even after both those teachers! That's sad to hear about the cards. I have most of my old ones but I just kept them in a box in my closet so they are not in the best condition. I haven't played Master Duelist but I have played Legacy of the Duelist which was just like a normal $40 game and had most of the cards for it's time free to get by playing the game. Me and my friends would download a save that had all the cards unlocked and just make tons and tons of decks to play against each other. I am with you tho, I stopped playing regularly when Synchros were first added and nearly had a heart attack trying to learn pendulums in Legacy of the Duelist lol

2023-05-09 11:46:12 +0000 UTCI'm sorry if the audio was a little low, I was even thinking "Damn, I do so much asmr now I can't talk normally when I record anything" haha! xD I think my first high school had around 500-600 students if I remember right. It was definitely a shock when I moved to my new school that had over 1,000! (God the urge to make a DBZ reference is strong lol). That's awesome about the drawing competition- congrats! :D There is no way in hell either of my art teachers would have done something that fun lol. I'm really happy to know you started drawing again though, that's super cool! It can be frustrating at times, but if you like it, I promise the frustration is worth it. Thank you again! :)

Looking back on it now, I always think how fitting of a reason for me to be put in detention since I ended up drawing xD With how bad that drawing was then, I'm sure he punished me for it not only being anime but also because the anatomy was God awful lol. I played so much Yu-Gi-Oh growing up and I loved it. Most of my cards got lost unfortunately. I sometimes play the master duelist online game and that's pretty fun! Incredibly difficult for me at times since it takes me a while to learn what some of the cards do, but I still enjoy it even when I lose haha!

I was lucky my senior year to have finished all my "required" courses, so I could afford skipping out on the art class then haha!

Damn, less than a thousand is considered "small" in the US? My high school had around 700-800 students and even that was too much 😭 my teeny height didn't mix well with the crowded halls. I definitely encountered teachers like those two, but thankfully my art class was fun. I even won in a halloween-themed house drawing competition (I only had like four competitors lmao STILL counts I'm still proud of myself haha). I never actually had detention in high school. I was goody two shoes. But I did have punishment excercise similar to you because I was part of a very noisey group during French class. And, I just got to the end of the video just there. 😶 That really made my day (well, night at this point lol) I did not expect that shout-out, that really means a lot. Thank you. <3 Perfect pronunciation btw. I've already blethered a lot about how I wouldn't have been drawing again if it weren't for your art. I realise now that you're basically like the art teacher YOU wish you had, telling people to have fun with art and that's what matters. 2023-05-09 01:15:29 +0000 UTCMan, I don't know what I was expecting when you mentioned a detention story but it being because of hand drawn lewds is one of the funniest high school stories I have ever heard lol. Also unfortunately I have heard too many stories of teachers not considering anime style, or even western cartoon style, as a real art form in class. It's disheartening to hear how common it is as art seems a bit pointless if you can't do it in a way that you are passionate about. I'm also glad to hear you stood up for your friend from that horrible teacher, even if it was more on a instinctual level more so than thinking it through. I wish I knew anything about the cards, but I'm more of a Yu-Gi-Oh person in terms of cards and even then I'm not a collector so I'm not sure if I would be able to recognize anything. They certainly looked pretty though. Thank you for the stories! Also awesome to see Antoni get a shoutout! I'm a little biased as they compliment my pfp, but still very much deserved.

I only ever got detention in high school once, but in grade school I had it a lot, I was a bit of a bad boy (straightens leather jacket). My art teacher was never awful to us but she definitely thought she was the hottest thing since sliced bread, And she was good...at drawing, she couldn't paint her way out of a paper bag.
