Deleted Scene #3 | Daddy's money
Added 2024-11-15 19:00:03 +0000 UTCThe original prologue from the first draft of the demo had a bit more backstory of MC working, and how Chris and Jade came to be. Several things have changed since this was typed up. There were over 7 choices of what MC could have told Chris at that point. Below only includes 2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Recent layoffs at Infinity, a PR firm that works mainly with non-profit organizations, have resulted in many late nights. Some bent over piles of paperwork and pitches, and other nights spent in the office. With your limited free time spent on planning your upcoming wedding.
Chris $ch_himself works tirelessly at $ch_hisher family’s law firm. In the past you two were inseparable, each of you ensuring you made time for one another.
That changed after your engagement, with Chris’s father, Clayton often referred to as Clay, promoted $ch_himher to a higher spot in the firm. This resulted in late nights out with clients, wining and dining with them, and coming home half-drunk. Causing contention in your relationship.
At least until about two months ago. When you offhandedly mentioned Chris needing fewer clients, Clay was happy to oblige. It seemed to do the trick. Now Chris only works with two clients, one a family friend, the other your sister Jade.
“It’s funny, we got engaged and spent even less time together.”
$ch_HisHer brows pinch slightly together, sparing you a glance “I told you that you could quit. I make enough money to support us both.”
You can feel your hands grip tighter onto the counter, “Chris, we’ve talked about this. I’m not quitting my job. I’ve worked there since graduation.”
"Yeah, and what do you have to show for it? You barely make enough on your own.”
That causes you to jerk back, your eyes widen with $ch_hisher words.
Choice A
“I never asked you to quit, so you shouldn’t ask me to,” you utter.
$ch_HeShe turns $ch_hisher head just enough to look at you. “I couldn’t quit if I wanted to, and you know it.”
“Even if that’s true-“
"Of course it’s true! Why would I lie?” $ch_heshe exclaimed.
In $ch_hisher outburst $ch_heshe finally manages to coax the pancake up and goes to flip it, $ch_heshe's too quick too rushed, and as the pancake falls into the pan it causes the excessive amount of butter to splatter, scalding their wrist.
Choice B
"Not everyone can rely on Daddy’s money to survive,” you say, a sharp edge to your words.
This causes Chris to jerk $ch_hisher head towards you, anger flickering in $ch_hisher eyes, "I've earned my position in that company. I wasn't just born into it." The tremble in $ch_hisher voice doesn't go unnoticed.
Placing a hand on your hip you match $ch_hisher gaze, “Really? You sure could have fooled me.”
In a matter of seconds, the pancake they finally managed to coax from the pan releases, with a quick flick of their wrist Chris flips it, but $ch_heshe's too quick in $ch_hsher movement, too rushed. The pancake falls into the pan, causing the excessive amount of butter to splatter upwards, scalding Chris in the process.
“Shit!” Chris hissed, jerking $ch_hisher hand away from the skillet.

Even tho I hate them, they are very intinteresting character to me. Insecure and jealous of other ppl to the point they would steal someone dear to them (MC). I can't wait for more! 😊
