Reward Tier Updates (Big update!)

What an amazing year it's been! 2021 started out the worst way for me: I had DMCAs against me here and on Twitter, forcing me to start using an original redesign of Mila. I was, and still am, only a minor infraction or two away from losing my Twitter and FA as things stand. And of course my Patreon went full SFW. But oh boy did I make the best comeback! You've all been so supportive of me, even you quiet ones. Because of you I can pay my bills and I am a way better artist today. I can make better art faster now~

Tier updates

Since my art is getting better, I think the way I manage myself should improve too. I increased my commission prices recently, which is helping ease the stress of paying bills on my end. I may increase prices again soon, but that's not why I'm making this post. I had a good look at my tiers on Patreon lately and I've decided to simplify things a bit.

I'm doing away with the $1 and $5 tiers.

I want to start valuing myself more, to take my career more sincerely, and I want to see that reflected in a slightly higher minimum tier. All the rewards for these two tiers will now be available in the $3 tier. This means the private stream access and $5 commission discounts will be moved to the $3 tier. The new tier list will be:

- $3 Mudmouse

- $10 Thunderpeach

- $20 Lantha's Choice

- $50 Buttons' Brew

What will happen to the $1 and $5 tiers?

The $1 and $5 tiers will be unpublished. This means these options will not be available for new or returning supporters to select. If you are in one of these tiers, you can stay there indefinitely if you would like and still receive the same rewards. For example, if you are a $1 supporter, you will still have access to my private streams. But if you leave these tiers, you cannot return. 

If you're curious why I'm removing the $5 tier, I've honestly been meaning to combine that tier and the $3 for the longest time.

Better margins

Another big reason I'm making this change is because Patreon has made it very clear that a creator is getting a smaller percentage of a supporter's pledge if they are subscribed at a tier less than $3. I read their documentation on this and watched a half-hour presentation about this: Processors who process the pledges like Stripe and Paypal take cuts of around 30% from $1 pledges, and slightly less for $2. The percentage of your pledge that actually goes to the creator you want to support doesn't get better until around $3 where the cut processors take dips under 20%.

I'd prefer to set tiers that feel like you're supporting me and not the payment processors.

Thank you so much to everyone who's been a $1 tier. You guys are honestly some of the realest MVPs. You've helped me more than you may ever know or realize just by being here. You have the complete and total ability to remain a $1 patron if you wish. The $1 tier has been rebranded to Coffee Beans, which, again, still has the benefits of having access to my private streams. Really any Patreon supporter of mine gets that, but if you ever decide to bump up your support, that would be awesome since Patreon encourages it because of processing fees AND you'd get to be in my Patreon Credits posts when I say my big thank-you's. :3

TL;DR No more $1 and $5.
