705 Core of Madness - lv5 Shadowdark Adventure

The scholar suspects that the miners found an ancient dungeon built by a culture of fish-folk, the deep ones. According to his sources, the region was submerged centuries ago, thus explaining the presence of the elusive fish-folk.
This is a Shadowdark adventure that brings the heroes to an ancient shrine-like structure that hides a terrible secret. In the deepest reaches of this dungeon lurks a strange avatar of an occult deity that only the deep ones are aware of. The monster is a calamity of tentacles and madness. Even the deep ones have trouble dealing with the ineffable entity, despite their prayers. Will the characters have the guts to confront such a maddening aberration of the old world?
This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd-party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
