699 Sepulcher of the Zarv Family - Level-4 Shadowdark Adventure

In Sepulcher of the Zarv Family, the discontent and civil unrest in the county has caused rumors and ideas of ransacking the nobles' crypt which was repurposed from an ancient dwarven construction. The characters hear of this profitable endeavor and set out to find the Sepulcher of the Zarv Family. Upon arrival, it becomes apparent that the hapless folks interred here are not at peace. Many of them have been reanimated by a strange force.

In this mid-level Shadowdark adventure, the characters unravel a strange situation as they come to find an undead noblewoman who inhabits the crypt and seeks to escape. She believes the current countess to be an impostor, and she claims to be the real Eleanor Zarv. She was murdered 5 years ago, according to her unrambling mind. At this point, it is not clear whether this are just the deranged thoughts of an undead spirit or if her tale is true. If it is accurate, the countess in the capital is a sockpuppet. But who might be behind this region-wide control scheme?

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd-party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
