691 The Imperial Prison

In The Imperial Prison, the characters have been wrongfully imprisoned in an underground compound in the region's capital, Ardennia. They are placed in high-security cells and, unless they do something about their current situation, shall suffer a grim fate in the hands of torturers and jailers. Soon enough, the characters may find a sliver of hope and attempt to break out of the imperial prison. Do they have what it takes?

In this level-4 Shadowdark adventure, the characters move slowly across an underground prison to find a way out. They learn a terrible secret, the prison serves an ulterior purpose. Someone has been conducting strange, arcane, and immoral experiments on the inmates. It remains obscure as to what purpose such procedures are conducted. The characters may even be unfortunate enough to find a strange creature that was born from the death of others.

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
