Continuing the work... Let's go.

Improving round 1-1 in every way.
Pixel-by-pixel editing, examining each block to see if it isn't consuming memory abusively.
It is one of the most arduous works within the development of a more detailed scenario for the Mega Drive.

Doing the palettes has always been the biggest challenge - I've only worked on a single published MD game but I remember how difficult it was finding the right balance ... much easier on SNES but I always preferred the MD myself regardless. Looking forward to see the other levels - converting the tiles to just ~16 colours for the background is for sure one hell of a job. Looks good for level 1 already, though. :-)

We are using the following layout, with each palette containing 15 colors + 1 transparency. PAL0 - Players and some enemies PAL1 - Enemies and Items PAL2 - Enemies and Items PAL3 - Scenario We are still in the process of optimizing the scenario, which requires more effort. The sprites are 90% complete with the adaptations that were converted from the arcade. In the beginning, we used all the assets of the SEGA CD as a placeholder, but we are in the process of migrating.

Yes....you're right, but i think that the mega cd version uses in a smart way the colors.....in some cases they're a bunch of enemies in the screen, so a lot of color variations are used....only replacing a few colors in each pallette. I will check the mega cd version for more aknowledgment.

I think with just 1 palette it's possible to make at least 2 or 3 enemy variations. With 1 palette being used for heroes, it's possible to keep 2 palettes for background/foreground (31 colors), or at least 23 colors and 8 more colors for one more enemy or objects. It is worth mentioning that it's possible to use the colors of the heroes also on the enemies for more variations! I don't know if that's exactly how they're doing it, but it's a possibility. ^^

One question. Are you using the asets from the mega cd version? Studying your shots, i can count 8 colors (+transparent) for the enemies. How you will manage the pallets? I assume that one for the playable characters, another one for background and the rest for enemies? Are you know about to use also the playable characters for adding more color for the stage background?
