The Big One-Year Anniversary Update - Updated $5 Tier, New Content and Merch!

Hey everyone and happy One-Year Anniversary of Second Wind!

We've got a bunch of fun updates to share with you, including new merch, upcoming content updates, and some changes to our $5 tier here on Patreon to make it more valuable for you as backers!

Let's start with the Patreon tier update first. We have a lot of backers at the $1 and $3 level, and as we've obviously taken a sizable dip over the last few months, we're hoping to convince some of you to either sign-up for the first time, or upgrade to the higher tier by offering some additional benefits.

Updated $5 Patreon Tier

Our goal is to be back at around $50,000 / month here on Patreon which is where we're sustainable as a team, and not having to constantly chase after sponsorships. We have other plans in the works for bringing additional funds into the company that we'll share when we're ready.

We've never set a target for Patreon before, but we want to be transparent with you on where our goals are as a company.

We've added 3 new perks to the $5 tier:

We've also moved the Yahtzee Summer Drought vote from the $25 tier to the $5 tier to get a wider pool of votes in. If you're at the $25 tier and decide to drop down, we completely understand!

We will NEVER paywall any of our weekly series as we've previously promised, but we did want to find something to offer our Patreon backers that's a little more exclusive as a benefit for signing up and so we decided a monthly experimental video was a fair way to do that.

These videos could be anything our creators come up with like a cooking video from myself (Nick) or a comedy skit from Jack, or how to make videos vlog from Omar. We plan to have a lot of fun with it.

Patreon Goals

UPDATE 10:30 PM CT: We'll tally all the money we raised from today's stream and make good on some of these! We had no idea what we'd raise today and A LOT of you sent in super chats, subscriptions on Twitch, and annual Patreon memberships.

///

Thanks so much for your support!

To make today's stream a bit more interesting, we've created a number of goals for you to hit that will have us doing a bunch of wacky things either today on stream, or a little bit down the line.

Upcoming Content

As revealed at the start of the stream today, Metal Gear Untold is finally ready and launching this coming Monday (the 18th!). Javed has put a ton of work into this thing and it's an incredible piece that we hope you all tune into and share!

Our Animal Well Documentary has officially entered editing and we plan to release it before the end of the year, so stay tuned for upcoming updates on that and make sure to check out the trailer!

Adventure is Nigh Season 4 is officially dated for February 2025. The team is working hard on it, and we can't wait to share it with you when it's ready. Season 5 is also confirmed, and we plan to shoot it early next year in-person again.

Adventure is Nigh will continue on beyond Season 5, so stay tuned for additional updates on that from Jack later next year.

Beyond those projects, we're also working on securing additional documentary projects for next year, prototyping a new show and we will be streaming a lot more on Twitch in the new year as we look to grow our platform over there, and reduce some of the streaming load on our main channel.

We'll have more updates on that later.

New Merch

We've got a bunch of new merch available over on our Shark Robot store, including the long-awaited pre-order for Fully Ramblomatic on Blu-Ray! Adventure is Nigh Blu-Rays are still coming as well, and we will launch pre-orders for those with Season 4 in February 2025.

See all the new merch in our promo vid: https://youtu.be/6PzrOJMEeK8?si=1ODz8p4rnYhqCm5Q

Thanks for all your support in year one and we can't wait to show you all we've got in store for year two!

How much money do we need to pay to get Yahtzee to wear a green hat?

Russell Schafer

Selfishly, I'm a little disappointed the Adventure is Nigh blu-rays won't be available until next year. I'd been planning to do one of those as a holiday present for someone. Congrats on 1 year!

Bj Last

Yup. We will continue streaming on YouTube, move some things to Twitch, and anything we do we will upload Unlisted into proper playlists.

Nick Calandra

"we will be streaming a lot more on Twitch in the new year as we look to grow our platform over there, and reduce some of the streaming load on our main channel." I hope you continue YouTube streaming. If you do move to Twitch, I hope the streams, at the very least, gets posted to a playlist on YouTube. Other than that, love the idea for the write-ins. Definitely want to try and subscribe to Patreon more, when I can. Looking forward to the cool things Second Wind create.

Chris

It may have been brief but loving the new AiN party outfits. Can't wait for the next campaign.

Pixel Magus

Make Yahtz wear a green hat cowards.

Are there going to be any more of The Archive? I really liked those

Sean Casserly

Noted, but people still spent $200K regardless of where it went. By all means aim for a sustainable future. But I'm just telling you what it's like on the other side. PS Just ordered the new Blu Ray, looks like a great package. Keen to get the adventure is nigh next year.

Marcus Cowen

Card game did not bring us $200K. That was a RDI Kickstarter and we shared in some of that as royalties. These goals are long term just for fun and we're continuing to diversify our revenue streams as we've planned since the beginning!

Nick Calandra

I think Yahtzee wouldn't mind a shirt that says "live, laugh, love" given how much he loves working at Second Wind, with him saying that it's like working with friends

Lil' Cass

To be honest I think the problem is that there is only so much money the community can contribute ongoing. The card game brought in what was it 200,000 dollars? Considering the average video has something like 100,000 views the idea that 50,000 dollars per month comes in from those regular viewers means you're looking for 50 cents per viewer that is probably not sustainable when you consider that you're also after merchandise and tips during the videos. Personally I contribute at a lower tier nd I would like to get some of the Blu rays and I've already ordered a plushie and Magnets, but I cannot do higher tiers and Merch and I think that's the choice that a lot of people need to make.

Marcus Cowen

a tie-dye shirt embroidered with “live, laugh, love” nothing could be more antithetical to his british soul

Sam East

Instead of black shirts Yahtzee should have to wear the most hideously, obnoxiously brightly colored Aloha shirts possible.
