I remember watching this at a 5th grade school field trip. We went to see it after reading the book (Which BTW is a great book to read too). I really loved the movie a lot and my fav scene to this day is the battle scene especially the part when the 2 armies finally collided and the whole theatre and me went insane for that part

I admit when Ellie tears up I tear up as I'm sure many here do also. Love Michelle and Lia's reactions too. You don't find such pure innocence in America sadly as the education system here especially in colleges drains it out and basically preaches hatred of everything. It didn't used to be this way. It is so important to retain the child in you when you become adults. Fellow screenwriters here surely cherish these girls as the audience reaction you dream of. We know story structure and can predict story plots but their reactions have no such awareness -- until their adorable exclamation "I knew it!" Yes please respond to the sequels!

As I get older, the more impressed I become with this book. It is amazing how much story was packed in such a tiny little book, that even a 2.5-hour movie can't quite do it justice. It is impressive, considering modern fantasy authors write 1000-page books with less story than the Chronicles of Narnia. Fun fact: C.S. Lewis was close friends with J.R.R. Tolkien, the writer of the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. They were part of a group of writer friends called the Inkling Society, who met every week to share the things they wrote with each other. When Tolkien shared his idea for The Hobbit, Lewis was amazed. He was like, "You HAVE to write this!" But Tolkien was lukewarm and wishy-washy about writing the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings. But Lewis kept pressing him to do it, to write the story. Every time they met, he would keep asking Tolkien about the Hobbit. So, Tolkien finally started to sit down and write it. So, without C.S. Lewis constantly badgering his friend, we may never have ended up with The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings.
