Those are extremely standard Foley filmmaking techniques that have been around almost as long as movies w/ sound design have existed. Not trying to be a jerk or anything like that, I just cannot overstate how typical it is for any kind of film, (but especially Horror films), to literally try using all kinds of everyday objects – but probably starting w/ fruits & vegetables – to generate whatever certain sound the production team is looking for. I highly recommend you check out Peter Strickland’s 2012 masterclass old school Horror film, “Berberian Sound Studio.” The plot is entirely centered around a guy in the 1970s who is some kind of industry legend when your comes to Foley Sound, so he’s sent to work on some hush-hush Italian Giallo movie, but from the moment he gets there, his grip on reality begins to fade away. It’s such a fun film, I really hope you check it out & enjoy it. Cheers
