Ellie is right , the troll scene is referenced in Lord of the Rings twice in the first film "Fellowship of the Ring". First time is in the beginning , when Bilbo is telling the troll story to little hobbit kids at his birthday party . Then not long after that , when Frodo gets stabbed by one of the Nazgul ( looks like a Grim reaper type) , to later passing out , and be awaken by Sam , saying "Look Frodo it's Mr. Bilbo's trolls" , and then u see all the trolls still standing, and stone. That's in the Fellowship of Ring extended version . The one u two reacted too.
