Yes, absolutely do not watch Alien 3 or 4, BUT also do not watch Prometheus or Covenant. Just wacko attempt by Ridley Scott to force a new vision on people since he couldn't top James Cameron in that direction.

It's one of the rare times the sequel was better than the original, and the third movie just isn't as good, feels like they just tacked it on to make some more money, and I think they ruined the ending of Aliens. I really recommend just pretending Aliens 3 and Alien: Resurrection don't exist, and just jumping to Prometheus and finally Alien: Covenant. It's a much better story that way.
