Just fyi talking through the last few seconds pretty much kills the power of the ending. I mean, talking through any of the big moments of the movie kills the power of it, but especially the ending. Also saying "he would have/should have/could have" is pretty reductive and pointless. Cohen Brother movies are interpretive works, so all that trivial nonsense makes you miss the power of the film.

2021-06-25 05:39:16 +0000 UTC“The coin ain’t got no say.” – Carla Jean (and Blue) While watching your reactions to this amazing film I was constantly thinking, “Hell yeah Blue! You totally understand what’s going on and the way this story’s characters operate. 100%. Larry, I still think you’re hilarious and I hope you keep appearing in Homies reaction videos…but I’m sorry that I have to agree with Blue at the end on this one lol. Anton would’ve killed Carla Jean no matter what; remember, “He gave [her husband] his word that he would kill her.” We’ve only seen Anton give someone the chance at a coin toss ONCE, and that character wasn’t at all involved in anything related to the drug money or whatever. So there is absolutely NO WAY we can assume that Anton is suddenly going to not kill Carla Jean — even if she had decided to call the coin toss, and managed to call it correctly. The last thing worth mentioning are TWO SCENES at the end of the movie that you should *carefully* re-watch. (Yes, re-watch the whole movie as you both suggested, but two scenes in particular are super important to understanding why the ending makes sense and is absolutely PERFECT. The 1st scene to re-watch is the one where Sheriff Ed Tom goes to visit his relative, (the one with all of the “outlaw” cats in his house lol). Pay very close attention to what they talk about & you will understand WHY Ed Tom decided to go talk to him in the first place — as well as the conversation’s entire theme… The 2nd one to re-watch (obviously) is the finale scene where (a now fully RETIRED) Sheriff Ed Tom Bell is sitting with his wife and he reflects on the dreams he had the previous night. The first dream isn’t one he remembers much about, (which is the point), because it had something to do with “some money…I think I [Ed Tom] lost it…” (So the significance to the events in the movie should be pretty clear: it was NEVER about who ends up with the money, because everyone who tried to recover the money didn’t live very long or come close to keeping any of it…) The second dream…well, there’s just so much to take from that one, so I’ll leave it at that… Great reaction as always!
