Ellie is asking why this show is so popular if it is so cruel to the viewer - the answer is because how can you enjoy story which you know from the beginning that will end happily? The main advantage of Game of Thrones is fact that you cannot ecpect what will the next episode or season bring to you. Moreover I think you're missing one important issue - this show is based on novel written by George R.R. Martin, and Martin was ispired by real events that took place in our history (mostly in medieval England, Scotland and France as far as I remember). So next time when you'll be angry with this show just think about it as of real life history - just few centuries ago :)
