I drew that sketch and had this lighting in mind so I did some quick shading and I was like alright, okayyy, this looks pretty cool, yeah. And then I spent like 8 hours stressing about how the colored version wasn't capturing that atmosphere at all.
Thankfully our lord and savior overlay layers came to the rescue and I was able to recapture the vibe. It's pretty non traditional from how I usually shade, but I think it came out neat.
