Greetings All!
Definitely got into my element of making odd items with this one. I have been itching to try out a Damage Threshold item for a long while now, its been almost 2 years since the last concept one.
The tongue in cheek naming was an absolute blast to lock in, some eagle eyes might be able to see the details of some previous coins Iβve worked on!
If you have any other thoughts or comments, just let me know.
Updates: Brand new.
Truly, as always and ever sincerely, Thank You.

Description:
In the life of a Golden Spoon, the coin of their family tends to shield them from the harsher aspects of the world. In the case of this item, that can be taken quite literally. Whether a display of wealth or a blatant critique of the ruling class, this shield is able to protect its bearer from most harm... at the cost of gold. Letting the loosening of one's coin purse protect one's life.
Tabs:
- When donned, this Shield grants the user a Damage Threshold of 15 as well as its normal AC Bonus.
- Damage Threshold: Grants immunity to all damage unless it takes an amount of damage from a single attack or effect equal to or greater than its damage threshold, in which case it takes damage as normal. Any damage that fails to meet or exceed the damage threshold is considered superficial.
- Coin Pool: Any damage that penetrates the Threshold not only damages the user but the Shield itself. This destroys a number of gold coins in the Coin Pool equal to the number of damage dealt, as they are shed from the blow and vanish into the air.
- The shield starts with a baseline of a 100 Coin Pool.
- Over the course of a Long Rest, the user can place a minimum of 50 Gold Coins (up to a maximum of 200 total) onto the shield, and let it magically absorb them, adding the tally to its Coin Pool.
- Gold Coins added to the Coin Pool cannot be recovered.
- When reduced to a 0 Coin Pool, the shield loses its Damage Threshold until refilled.
