Life Line: One-Sided.

Catching back up with the extra Kickstarter additions now on the plate.

A Common Item! With Creation Rules?! While very simple, I hope this becomes a table staple for some of the lower level parties, it is definitely a useful little addition. I wanted parties with minimal magic items to have a small boon option for team work or communication. Let me know what you think and if this ends up working well at your table.

Description:

This rudimentary bracelet holds a simple enchantment that is famed among instructors and teachers alike. A simple adornment of a pearl, often a murky one of a river clam, is bound to a string or ribbon. Worn about the wrist, the instructor uses a spool of similar material to monitor others and stay aware of dangers.

Tabs:

• Over the course of 1 minute, the user can take the thread (similar to that which binds the pearl) and wrap it around the wrist of a creature. This can be done for up to 5 creatures, taking a minute for each. This allows the user to be faintly connected to each creature.
• While adorned with this string, any of the following actions taken or affecting the creation will cause the surface of the pearl to chip:
  • The thread is removed or cut.
  • The creature is reduced to 0 HP.
  • They leave the same plane as the life line user.
  • If chipped up to 5 times, the pearl will crack in half and become unusable. Each Dawn the user can roll a 1d6. On a 6 the pearl will return to its original, unchipped state.

Creation:

To create a Life Line, the user must be instructed in the base design formula by a creature with knowledge related to its crafting or writings detailing the process, which are as follows:

• Requirements.
  • 1 Hour
  • Ritual Casting & the ability to cast a spell of 1st level or higher
  • Pearl (worth at least 5gp)
  • 1 spool of string or ribbon
  • Cluster of Honey Comb
  • The name of someone lost

Enchanting: Over the course of 1 Hour, the user must slowly bind the String (or Ribbon) around the Honey Comb and Pearl, tightening until the comb is crushed into the thread. As the knots and wrapping begin to take shape, the user must repeat the name of someone lost but never found, teaching the pearl its new purpose.
