I do recommend that anyone who tries coloring over their rough drafts should at least have some knowledge when it comes to shading and lighting. It'll help a lot if you know the basics.
If say it is only for practicing, I recommend starting in black, grey and white rather than coloring. Though if you're confident with your color theory skills, then please try going all in. ( ^ ^)/ I will admit that skipping a few stages cuts down an hour to 3 hours of work time depending on the level of details the stuff you have going on with your canvas.
The Lamy and Kiara chibis however isn't exactly in a "painterly" style, as some might put it since I drew clean lineart, used a softer cell shade style and added some gradient and overlays.
I'll be using the Mori Calliope file for the process guide I'm doing but if you want to checking the inside of the PSDs, feel free to go ahead, I didn't compress everything so you'll find folders labelled 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in there with some of the layers intact.
