Had to start from scratch again, this time I'm going for a chibi sprite style with no animation because that's the wall I hit before. It's also much faster to draw all the expressions I'd like the characters to have.
I also opted on having the sprites emote during conversations since I couldn't for the life of me get a typical 2 character portrait dialogue box to work. Ideally I'd love to mix visual novel storytelling into this but the programing is tripping me up. Maybe I'll switch to using Godot, I dunno, but the idea of having to learn a new program again scares me. I actually tried using rpgmaker but even that was too complex for me to get it to do what I wanted.
It's slow going but I won't give up until I got something that's playable!
