Added 2019-06-10 22:31:29 +0000 UTCI imagine few characters in the history of comics have gone through more drastic changes over the years as Lois Lane, (shown here in her Superman: The Animated Series incarnation, as that's the version I'm personally familiar with.)
This isn't surprising of course, as the obvious reason Lois has undergone such an evolution is because she's been around for over eighty years now. Lois debuted in 1938, during an era where "shrill obnoxious nag" was a perfectly acceptable archetype for a hero's love interest, and was commonly employed. In the fiction, I imagine countless lives that could have been saved were lost because Superman was too busy being distracted by this meddling harpy's latest scheme to expose his secret identity.
Yet over the decades, her role started to shift. Rather than being a direct nuisance to Superman, she merely needed saving all the time, which was a huge step upward as far as likability was concerned. By the time I came across her 90's version on the animated series, she got into trouble often, sure, but she also actually...helped? Every now and then? It was a change for the better, no question.
But that's where my personal knowledge ends, as I haven't kept up on the comics since, or seen another animated series where she was a central character. I wonder what she's like now? And how she's changed to reflect the times? If you have any info or opinions to share, let me know in the comments! :)

She's a kick-ass wife and mother(their son Jonathan is a sweet boy) who's the best investigative journalist on the planet and tends to help more than hinder these days. She's also fierce enough to give Batman a dressing-down when he's out of line. And they're kind of horny as fuck for a married couple, no lie.

I mean, I'm sure she wanted to, but with super-hearing, x-ray vision and super-speed, there's almost no chance of success. (yes, completely unrelated to your post, but these are my thoughts!) Recently, Lois has had her own comic, which defines her in the modern age; different than her past spinoff issues.

2019-06-11 02:59:08 +0000 UTCI kind of hate the changes over time for non-immortal characters that are treated as eternally the same age, as it leads to a fandom that is fractured along the “x age” lines. If I ever had a comics company, time would be blocked out and accounted for. Would also have a rpg system all characters would have to use, for consistency.

2019-06-10 22:54:22 +0000 UTCThose old Bruce Timm DC designs mark the end of an era where cartoon women were allowed to dress sexy lol. There are some modern exceptions, (in fact if you know any I'd love to hear them) but that kind of thing is pretty rare anymore.
