Monochrome with Aleshia

Color has been my world for a while now — all the rich tones, the cinematic warmth, the stuff I’ve been obsessing over lately. But shooting this set with Aleshia pulled me back into black and white in a way that felt familiar, not dramatic.
More like revisiting a room I’ve always liked, not rediscovering it.

Back in college I spent a lot of time studying monochrome, not because I was a film purist, but because black and white forces you to think differently. No shortcuts, no relying on color to sell the mood. Just shape, contrast, attitude, and whatever emotion you can squeeze into a frame.

Aleshia makes that easy. She’s playful, fearless, and her posing never feels stiff — even upside down she somehow makes the shot feel alive. In black and white, that energy hits harder. You notice the lines of her body, the tension, the laughter, the way everything reads more graphic and bold.

And those Riptides? Stripping away color made the pattern feel even more striking. The texture, the highlights, the stretch of the fabric — all of it pops in a way it didn’t when I first saw them.

This shoot wasn’t about changing anything.
It was just about tapping back into something I’ve always loved doing.
