sketchbook + patreon status

yeah I'll be digging through the pile of sketchbooks. don't have much to say about a lot of it because it's either stuff i was kicking completely off the dome, or stuff from abandoned projects. well, i could say a lot about all my failed projects but idk, not my favorite thing to talk about lol

also sorry the pics are shitty, but don't have a scanner. will buy one once the patreon moons..

anyway 'engagement', likes etc. are feedback. if anything, it just lets me know that the pics aren't falling on deaf ears.. or eyes.. we'll go with 'falling on deaf eyes'...

yesterday we cleared a rather interesting hurdle. i know i said the patreon wouldn't have perks/be for comms. this is true with 1 exception: the maxx'd out slot. This one comm obligation is a necessary evil, because the 'bonus' or whatever you want to call it from this priority comm is actually just about equal to what i charged for a 'colored sketch' up until just recently. So! it's something resembling full compensation for a monthly full color pinup, which means it's now something i have time for, rather than something i'm making time for. massive difference in terms of morale. once the cream is separated from the whey there is a $100 production budget, which is the minimum amount of work I can promise in february. but i'll see if i can swing more than that..

nsfw pinups will probably be publicly released at some point. or rather they will inevitably be released by a leaker if the patreon takes off. but either way i think maintaining exclusivity is a losing battle with these things. it's not what this place is for at the end of the day; you're crowd-commissioning me to cook, remember? there's also the fact that these pics will be more in line with the type of subject matter/approach i'm interested in than a lot of commissions i'm getting, so it'd make my work work more manageable if i did get them out there and let people know they're more what i'm about.

so, there's two avenues i'm considering: either the 'early access' model, where eventually 100% of everything gets posted after x amount of time, or the 'every-other' model from podcasts, where every other pinup is a freebie and every other is an exclusive. leaning more towards the former, but the latter is compelling in its way too.

ps not expecting anyone to read all these long blogposts, but they're there for those keenly interested in what i'm doing here and why, and also for the ones that just want to listen to the sick ass podcast that plays in my head all day long..
