Nulvarith 04 - Cosmic Gardeners

You cannot deny their intelligence

Hello all, and welcome to the final regular release of our Nulvarith setting! We've got a big big BIG one for you today: two incredible collaborations with Tabletop RPG Music and The Fluffy Folio, bonus variant tracks, the conclusion to the borough guide, and a really incredible map. Let's dive in!

Borough Guide

In chapter 4, we finally do a deep dive into the sliverlings, the mouthless creatures that were already present in Nulvarith when the party arrived. These aliens tend to the bizarre ecosystem atop the planet shards, and we've got two big tables full of creatures you can use to populate the environment. The sliverlings also protect critical secrets relating to the destruction of the realm. If you want to explore the true history of Nulvarith, this chapter is a must read! Finally, we describe Xaros, the ancestral custodian of the sliverlings. This leafy stardragon is returning to Nulvarith soon, and when she arrives, she will judge the players harshly.

Maps

The main focus of this map is the sliverling village, a small collection of huts surrounding a massive crystal outcropping. The sliverlings are peaceful unless provoked, of course, and that means virtuous parties will totally get a chance to party with the gardening aliens. As with all of our Nulvarith releases, we have the following map variants available: Dark, Desert, Underwater, Storm, Storm Aftermath, Spooky, and Asteroid (aka "non-magical space").

Chief Courier tier patrons get access to interior maps for every single sliverling hut. There's not too much in these buildings... aside from the artifact. If your players plan on investigating the cause of Nulvarith's destruction, they'll definitely want to explore these homes!

Music

Planet Shards is ambient, spacy music. This is ideal "putzing about" scoring, the tune you put on while your players are meandering around Nulvarith looking for secrets and answers. It is cosmic and mystical, but more than anything, it's ambient. It was inspired in no small part by the sky islands music from Tears of the Kingdom.

We've also decided to give you TWO variant tracks this week, both for the track Tunnels Through the Shard from Nulvarith 02. The Enchanted variant is great for bizarre magical encounters in the mines, while the Combat variant will help with duels that are decidedly less intense than what we offered in our last release.

Sliverling and Xaros | Collaboration with The Fluffy Folio

When we were first started brainstorming Nulvarith, we knew we had to collaborate with The Fluffy Folio. Fluffy is the undisputed master of bizarre, creepy, cute, and quirky monsters for 5e. We used Fluffy to design both the sliverling and the leafy stardragon for us, and you better bet Fluffy did not disappoint. We had so much fun collaborating on this one, and we're positive you'll make great use of the art and statblocks for both.

Please give Fluffy a follow on Patreon if you want stranger creatures in your campaigns!

Broken Reality | Collaboration with Tabletop RPG Music

We love working with other composers in this space, and few are as prolific as Ian Fisher, AKA Tabletop RPG Music. Ian has released hundreds of tracks for you to use in your campaigns, and this newest one, Broken Reality, is exactly what you should put on while your players consider the cosmic weirdness of Nulvarith. Ian makes all varieties of TTRPG music, but he really excels at these unsettling spacy ambiences.

Give Ian a folllow on Patreon, and then read the interview we just conducted with him on our blog!
