Fortunately, I'm not all out of sparkles. In fact, I just spent a day putting rhinestones on one of my go-go outfits for Tiki Oasis. I don't have any other costuming things to do for the debut of my act this weekend at Viva Dallas Burlesque, so I had to burn off that creative energy in other ways. I may even have just enough fabric and time to make a little jacket to go with my Friday evening outfit for next week.
I've always been a bit of a clotheshorse, even if I tend to wear the same yoga pants and t-shirts in daily life. My older sister would hand down clothes, as would my brother's girlfriend. When I married, my husband's cousin decided I needed some her leftover clothes. I was even passed a bunch of designer outfits by a random person. I try so hard to get rid of things, but it seems like I acquire more than I can ditch. It's like I have a closet hydra.
That's compounded by the costume world. I have so much fabric I don't want and no one will buy. My retired costumes just don't sell, and I've worked too hard on them to dump them at Goodwill. Every time I make something new, I'm giving up another bit of closet space.
And yet it doesn't stop me from making more things and rhinestoning more things. Give me a themed event and I'll go too wild.
We're shooting my go-go outfits while I'm at Tiki Oasis. I'm hoping to shoot another silly butt video while I'm there, along with some other stuff.
