I've been in Dallas for just over two weeks. Moving cross country is a bit... traumatic. I'm a problem solver and enjoy challenges so I adjust. It took a little over a week for the dogs to realize we weren't just staying in another hotel. I still haven't finished unpacking the stuff I'm utilizing in my short-term apartment.
There are little things that I haven't problem solved, like my new local go-to restaurant. I lived down the street from a family-owned and operated Greek place that had been around since the 1940s. I don't think I'm going to find a suitable replacement. I ordered out from there once a month for over thirteen years.
Adjustments aside, Dallas has been kind so far. I was booked as a replacement in a burlesque show with a live band last week. (Booked Monday night, performed Thursday.) I'm working on seizing opportunities when they present themselves instead of speculating that I'm not what they're looking for. You can see the video of the act here: http://bit.ly/2nHVlHt
I'm wrapping up a gown for a new act to Prince's "Delirious" next Saturday. That's part of the reason I'm not fully unpacked. I'm dancing at the Texas Burlesque Festival the following week. I'm still not going to be dancing every night of the week. I want good acts with solid costumes and fun concepts.
I am competing in the Golden Legend Champion Challenge in August. My burlesque legend mentor is Judith Stein, AKA Mama Beaver. (She's Canadian.) I'm not supposed to share anything online about my act. I can say that she and I are on the same page with entertaining people as the main objective.
This is another bathtub shot by Modern Noir Studios. I have a big bathtub in my luxury apartment. I'll have to share a story from there. (That means I can't read my Stan Mikita book in the tub that night!)
