Forest Road Pursuit
Added 2025-02-28 19:40:33 +0000 UTCHi guys, I've wanted to create a moving chase scene with a horse and carriage for so long — and it's finally done!
I also made two stationary scenes: one with the carriage and horses grazing and an empty one suitable for a fun random encounter.
Also, a wagonless version of the moving scene was made because it comes in handy if you use a 3d printed wagon.
I'm happy with how these came out, but it's quite a challenge, not just artistically but technically, because perfect quality means enormous file size. You must find that happy medium during encoding where the quality is still good, but the file size and bitrate are tolerable. It's easy to run up to several gigabytes in video size; any compression means a compromise. My M1 Macbook even coped with the 60 fps version without any problems, and since it has an SSD, the 100 MBps bitrate was no problem either. However, there is a better compressed version in the lower bitrate and fps library. 4K/60 fps at 100 Mbps requires a modern GPU and fast SSD for smooth playback. The webm version is so compressed that you can't get an enjoyable quality of the moving seen, so I didn't include it in this set.
I plan to add more to this set. There will be a walking speed version, a night version with a campsite, a wagon with horses as an animated prop, a broken wagon, dead horses, etc. If you have any ideas, don't hold back.

Lovely map. Just so you know, the Forest Road Pursuit_day_Full_Set.zip is not animated like the others.

I even edited the Chase in Avernus moving map into black and white and used it to have a sled dog race in one of my games. I agree with Antonio Lignan below. Would love to see a winter version of this big enough to have multiple sleds on it at once. Keep up the great work.

Stacionary (spring?), chase scene (spring), maybe we could add night campsite (spring)! Also, and if you have time and is not much more difficult, maybe winter versions / rainy versions, although is easier for us to add rain in our ttrpg devices than winter above 3d meshes. Anyway, I really liked this one in particular.
