why do you care about a show that much and still watch it. just play the game and don't watch the show. that's what ill do if a live action adaptation make me feel this bad.

double time

Okay, let me summarize my personal thoughts on the latest episode of "The Last of Us" Season 2. Honestly, I'm really disappointed with how things are going. This episode, the fourth one, just solidified my growing feeling that the show is straying too far from what made the original game so special. It's not just an adaptation anymore; it feels like they're taking a completely different path, and I think it's hurting the essence of "The Last of Us." The way they handled Joel's death really bothered me. In the game, it was brutal but it had weight, you know? It was a direct result of his past actions and it fueled Ellie's need for revenge in a huge way. But in the show, it felt rushed, almost like they just wanted to get it over with. For such a central character, it lacked the respect and narrative attention it deserved. It feels like they sacrificed a cornerstone of the story for this new direction they're taking. And Ellie's character? That's another big issue for me. The complexity she had in the game, her inner turmoil, that constant push and pull between being vulnerable and fiercely strong – it all feels muted in the show. This version of Ellie in this episode felt distant, almost like a completely different person from the one I connected with in the game. The portrayal of Ellie and Dina's relationship is also a letdown for me. What was this tender, fragile safe haven in the game, a little bit of humanity in a brutal world, feels like it's being reduced to just a casual fling in the show. That underlying desperation, that sadness that was always there, making their connection so precious and fragile – I feel like that's gone. That intimate scene, in particular, just felt out of place, forced, and didn't add any real emotional depth. It actually distracted from the main story, in my opinion. This change in Ellie's character really makes me worried about how they're going to handle the ending. If they're shaping her so differently from the game, how can her story arc possibly conclude in a way that feels coherent and satisfying? I'm honestly afraid we're heading towards a forced ending that won't have the same emotional impact the game had. It's not just Ellie, though. The way they're sidelining Joel and the questionable handling of Tommy are also contributing to this feeling of betrayal. Joel, who was this father figure and tormented guide, is being pushed to the background, losing the central role he had in driving the story forward. And Tommy? He feels completely different, stripped of his strategic importance and that strong brotherly bond he had in the original story. So, overall, my impression after watching this fourth episode is that I'm watching a show that, despite its high production value, has lost its way narratively and doesn't understand the soul of the original material. What was a raw and powerful story about loss, revenge, and ultimately, humanity, feels like it's turning into a generic product that's sacrificing emotional depth and narrative consistency for questionable creative choices. I don't want to tell anyone else how to feel, but as a fan and someone who cares about this story, I'm deeply disappointed by this direction that's taking the show further and further away from the unforgettable essence of "The Last of Us." I'm holding out a little hope that things might turn around in the next episodes, but right now, I'm increasingly worried about an unsatisfying ending.

Patreon and issues, name a better combo. Jeffery Wright is so good. Can't wait to see his interactions with Kaitlyn Dever's Abby.
