I like how this episode was all about setting up every character’s place in the story moving forward by focusing on their goals and motivations. One of my favorite things about Hiromu Arakawa’s work is how each of her characters feel like they actually matter to the story, even if their goals have nothing to do with Ed/Al. They’re all part of the grand mechanism that’s working to build the narrative. It’s almost overwhelming to think about all the different factions and characters moving the pieces around the board, but I think it’s been handled pretty well so far. The only thing I’d criticize is how vague Ling and May’s circumstances still are despite meeting them like 15 episodes ago. Side note: Ed’s sense of style is endearingly abysmal. Why did he put skull ornaments on that lady’s balcony?? 😂

2025-04-17 21:18:31 +0000 UTCand about Xing, Ling and May, Kiss is right, Ling and May are half brothers, both sons of the emperor with different mothers ... remember when Ling got introduced he said the Emperor has like 41 sons in total (one of each clan) and yeah the clans are basically "fighting" each other so the princes/princesses gain the "favor" of his father so their clans get to live better.
