Gongrats on making it through Thriller Bark! This actually happens to be my personal favorite piece of literature as it's place in the grand scheme of things gets to be something seriously special. I feel as Brook is a character who can comment on aspects of humanity media rarely gets to grasp and so many unique concepts of life are touched on with him. Now the anime version of it takes the expression to another level with the actual matter of fact of performers being involved, the creation of a beautiful meta of minds. The animation taking nods to more productions than the manga got to, and one can only imagine the range of fun the live action will earn with it if it ever makes it there. It echoes through the series in my opinion, with little bits and pieces leading to the catalyst for what put this story forth on it's impressive journey. I like to think of Brook as the marvelous joy and beauty that would come with conquering death, to me it's the secret behind the series to existing for so long.

During ep 2 of the live action in the scene where Shanks gives Luffy his hat I didn't cry but found it very beautiful. Im mostly judging here but i can relate to Haylo when she cried for the character and his actions even after the scene had already happened eps ago. Im a big fan of OP since 12-13 yrs ago and i was binging the Live Action last yr and after watching ep2 (shanks-luffy) and i did not shed a tear, i just continued watching to ep 3 where usopp appeared and suddenly i burst out crying, usopp didnt even do anything he just appeared and im not a big fan of Usopp but i think its just me anticipating something special i already knew would happen and instead of being immersed, i was trying to analyze and also anticipating, which made me not savor the “present” and what was actually happening. But after the sudden realization i directly msg a pastor friend of mine that i’ve been forcing to watch OP, “They really did it, ep2 made me cry”. And this pastor friend is like Shanks to me

I've been to the One Piece symphony concert in Berlin last october. It was an amazing experience, just thousands of fans enjoying this fantastic music. And when the orchestra played "Bink's sake" the crowd went crazy! The japanese lyrics were projected on a big screen so everyone could sing along. I've never heard so many Germans (and probably some other Europeans) sing so excitedly in bad Japanese! 🤣 I hope you two get the chance to experience such a great event someday, too. ♥

I disagree, If I specifically pointed out what individual parts were or were not foreshadowing... then maybe, but even then, it's still just information given by the author. Multiple comments from this episode were deleted by the mods, mine wasn't for a reason, because it's purely about story mechanics. Now that we know what they are, fun fact the little character cards that come along in the SBS segments with personal info on characters like their height and age could be coming from actual Vivre Cards. In IRL these are a collection of data book pages that have little details about every major and minor character and extra lore info about places, arcs, and storylines in One Piece. Sadly they only make them in Japan, but if you are interested in learning more about our lovable band of pirates and the world of One Piece, there are a lot of One Piece content creators that translate them. My personal favorite is Artur from the Library of Ohara (.com) after you're caught up that is. Might make for some fun content for the OP fans to go through some of the data books of the arcs you already watched!

Loved thriller bark for its moments and story telling but the atmosphere is so much fun. i THINK i read somewhere (i don't know if its true) that Oda stylized allot of the animation with Tim Burton as an inspiration which is why i think I'm drawn to it. Makes its fun to toss on a couple thriller bark episodes on Halloween. Excited for the next arc its my one of my personal favorites of the series (SO FAR) I hope you guys enjoy it :)

Re-experiencing this arc through you guys' eyes has really given me a new perspective. It's so easy to look back on something and only remember the bad stuff (all the gross pervy stuff with Absalom/Nami, lackluster pacing from the anime) but the highs really are fantastic. One thing I noticed with Oda is that during very emotional scenes, he has a tendency to add something stupid that can make you laugh. Like with Brook we are basically bawling then he just opens his skull out of nowhere. The end is you're still teary eyed but smiling. He's the only shonen author I know who can do this effortlessly. Edit: It's a bit sad that the spoiler comments just seem to be increasing even if you already said how you felt about them. I think it's time to have someone updated with the manga to look over the comments before you do. I also commented a spoiler months ago but someone told me to delete it so I did. Hope people also do the same.

I cried imagining Brook being alone on his ship for 50 years together with his crewmates' corpses, he must be cursing his inability to die then, and yet just with one fateful encounter, he feel SO GLAD to be alive, grateful he ate the fruit... The story writing is just god-level it take my breath away every time.

Fun fact: Oda asked Kohei Tanaka (the compositor of the anime ost) to help him create the lyrics and the melody of "Bink's Sake" years before the scene even appeared in the manga. Oda took more time than he expected to get there, but it's still awesome that he was sure he wanted that song to be fully written beforehand
