He bought time. He saved everyone. He's a true hero. :)

I've always considered One Punch Man to be more of a Slice of Life type of anime. It' s about him struggling with the boredom and lack of meaning in his life, his focus on daily regular activities like shopping and figuring out ways to break the monotony of his life, his relationships and bonds with other characters.
