He apparently has notebooks full of research and backstories for even the most minor characters, which he is great at writing...like the gossip train conductors :)

2025-01-06 16:22:30 +0000 UTCThe "No" answer is so funny because when writing a shonen (aimed at ca 13 yo boys), Oda cant really have them drinking alcohol, nor say that they drink alcohol. This is funny because they obviously drink alcohol even as early as WHISKY peak, where he adds in an INSANELY silly line to make a loophole. He has one of the characters randomly state "This is very good wine, but it is just flavor with zero alcohol in it!" and it is basically like a meta statement from oda to us viewers. Then we immidietely see everyone getting drunk from it. But yhea Japan is pretty strict about that stuff.

He will also give many details even they are silly, such as what bath frequency the crew would take, their birthday or their favourite food, etc. SBS is so much fun.
