Up until those episodes you don't really know how scary Frieren is, or how determined. you know she helped kill the Demon King, but seeing her face demons for real is totally different. she is the scariest thing most demons ever face.

You can see it on the architecture but also the road they are walking on when Frieren is on the sidewalk and Flamme is on the main road. That road looks just like the ones in Pompeii and Herculaneum. It makes sense because the Roman Empire was the direct predecessor to the medieval German kingdoms in Europe.

2024-12-19 14:34:32 +0000 UTCthe way i see it is that her love of magic when she was younger was replaced by her love for the people around her and magic is just the medium by which she expresses that. a lot of the spells she learns are for the ones she loves (field of flowers for flamme, sour grapes for eisen, cleaning rust of statues for her former group). i think its the same with fern cos in ep 2 she says she's meh about magic but she continues to pursue it because it reminds her of her time with heiter.
