The white one is Demon-killing type and the Black one is Human-Killing type (the one Qual had used in Ep3, and you will see it again in ep26) I think modern mages can only use the white one. I think Frieren didn’t even teach Fern the black one. Only the very old and experienced mages know the black one

'Princess Jellyfish' is a much different vibe from either of those shows but has a great cast of female characters. 'Yona of the Dawn' is also great and the main character's arc and growth make it really compelling. 'Shirobako' is about a group of women who are trying to make it in the animation industry.

In most of the anime I've seen the female characters are more concerned with whether or not it's ok to look cute in their armour than anything else (not quite true but I hope you get my point). It's so refreshing to stumble across two well-written shows with strong female characters who are intelligent and deep, rather than just cute and shallow. Can anyone recommend to me another show with well-written, well-rounded, deep and intelligent female protagonists, please? Somebody has already suggested Violet Evergarden so I'm going to try that next, but any suggestions will be very gratefully recieved.

2024-12-12 22:03:57 +0000 UTCA fun information about "Frieren The Slayer": The japanese title of this show "Sousou no Frieren" can be translated in multiple ways. "Sousou (葬送)" is written with the two characters for 葬 meaning "to bury" and 送 "to send off", which gives it a greiving naunce. So at the beginning you assume that it is about Frieren, going on, even while she's grieving for Himmel (and Heiter) and her time with them, and it's translated as "Frieren Beyond Journey's end". But in some contexts it can also mean "to kill" or "to end", which is why as a title it is translated to "Frieren the Slayer" by Lügner, or more like "Frieren, who brings people (demons) to their end". So to the demons, Frieren has a moniker, because she's the mage who killed the most demons in History, and that's such a cool reveal. Especially since the title of the episode is only revealed at the very end, and it's just the name of the show.
