His techniques have nothing to do with it, he's simply incredibly talented at perceiving his own along with others souls and damage them directly.

Todo's hits aren't actually doing any damage to mahito that's why he said that the black flash was useless since Todo didn't hit mahito's soul. That double impact punch that we learned about Yuji in the first season is why he can 🫡
